Walk in wisdom

Paul has in ch 5 told his readers how to live.

He has shown them the plan of God.

That is what Ephesians is all about - the plan of God.

The plan of God he says in ch 1 was conceived in eternity past, brought to life in time when God wrapped Himself up in a human body and died as a human for all of human sin.

Thus paving the way for God to forgive humans because the penalty had been paid by God Himself in Jesus.

Then the plan of God comes to fruition in eternity future when God brings His forgiven people to be with Him in heaven.

That is the plan of God.

As Christians we know that God has saved us and that we are headed for heaven.

But it is too easy for us to forget that God is active now in our lives and is in the process of transforming us so that we are ready to live with Him in eternity - not just forgiven but made clean and comfortable to live with the Holy God.

This is what ch 5 is all about - how are we to live in the light of God’s plan to bring us to heaven?

Paul tells us that we are to be imitators of God v 1.

He unpacks that using the word walk -by which he describes the Christian’s way of life.

We are to walk in love - v 2. Why because God loves us.

We are to walk in light v 8 why? because we are children of the light.

And then he says we are to walk in wisdom v 15.

It is this element of the Christian’s way of life that will be our focus this morning.
