WHY DO WE NEED FATHERS?
Boys learn to be men from men. Mothers are needed and vital but there are some things only dad can do.
Most of the issues I deal with in counseling come from a lack of the Father’s love. A lack of affirmation, rejection, judgment against a harsh father, rebellion usually from distrust against a father
A man is to be the priest of his home and guide his family their spiritual development.
WHAT DOES A FATHER’S LOVE DO?
Blesses his family.
Affirms their children’s identity
See the best and encourage them in it.
Simon, to whom He gave the name Peter; James the son of Zebedee and John the brother of James, to whom He gave the name Boanerges, that is, “Sons of Thunder”;
When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
Gives them courage.
Gives them courage.
3.
OUR GOD IS A GENERATIONAL GOD
Some things God wants to do in your life are so big they will take more than one generation to accomplish.
Many are blessed because of someone else’s faith and obedience.
Examples of this...
David’s obedience kept a family member on the throne forever
“For thus says the Lord: ‘David shall never lack a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel;
And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 He shall build an house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.
Aaron’s blessing blessing bestowed upon his family the honor of always being part of the priesthood who would go into the Holy Of Holies.
You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.”
Abraham’s covenant ensured favor upon his family forever.
Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.
(KJV 1900)
22 A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children:
And the wealth of the sinner is laid up for the just.
