Seeing and Showing Messiah
Seeing and Showing Messiah
Therefore, having such a hope, we act with great boldness. We are not like Moses, who used to put a veil over his face in order for Bnei-Yisrael not to look intently upon the end of what was passing away. But their minds were hardened. For up to this very day the same veil remains unlifted at the reading of the ancient covenant, since in Messiah it is passing away. But to this day, whenever Moses is read, a veil lies over their heart. But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit and where the Ruach Adonai is, there is freedom. But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory—just as from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

Summer Declares the Glory of God in Jesus Christ
What is God saying in the Summer Season?
The summer is our season to share the Gospel because the weather is great to share.
Don’t turn down the spiritual volume but turn it up.
Showing Messiah Means Showing Love

Point 1: To Show Him We Need to See Him
You need to see the Messiah for who he really is.
But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory—just as from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
We are being transformed.
Point 2: You Become What You Behold
How are you being transformed? who are you looking to?
Beholding the Messiah is the means.
Illustration: How like your mentor you are.
Application: Fix your gaze upon Him.
Point 3: Showing Messiah: Slave Labor Vs. The Freedom of Love
If the image comes from the outside it feels like slavery because we don’t have what it takes on the inside.
Explain the difference between the Old and the New
Legalism or Rebellion: Slavery is when you get commandments from outside that you don’t want to do on the inside. The result is either rebellion or legalism. You can say, “I reject the burden of your commandments.” Or you can say, “I will try to measure up with external compliance,” when inside there is no real delight in the commandments—no real ‘want to.’ That is slavery. - John Piper, Sermons from John Piper (1990–1999) (Minneapolis, MN: Desiring God, 2007).
The Spirit Gives Liberty: he creates a want to that agrees the have to of the Law. Freedom is wanting to do what you are commanded by God to do. God says, “Love!” The fruit of the Spirit is love. Therefore, where the Spirit is, there is freedom
John Piper, Sermons from John Piper (1990–1999) (Minneapolis, MN: Desiring God, 2007).
Freedom is wanting to do what you are commanded by God to do. God says, “Love!” The fruit of the Spirit is love. Therefore, where the Spirit is, there is freedom
