The Judgment of the Nations

Matthew 25:
Matthew 25:31–46 NASB95
“But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. “All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. “Then the King will say to those on His right, ‘Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. ‘For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in; naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.’ “Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink? ‘And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You? ‘When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ “The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ “Then He will also say to those on His left, ‘Depart from Me, accursed ones, into the eternal fire which has been prepared for the devil and his angels; for I was hungry, and you gave Me nothing to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me nothing to drink; I was a stranger, and you did not invite Me in; naked, and you did not clothe Me; sick, and in prison, and you did not visit Me.’ “Then they themselves also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry, or thirsty, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not take care of You?’ “Then He will answer them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”
There are several Judgments that are listed in the Bible. There is a judgment of sin which happened with Jesus on the cross. There were Judgments of Sodom and Gommorah, Noahs old world. The Holy Spirit, convicts the world of sin, for this comming Judgment.
Titles of Jesus Christ. Names applied to Jesus, associated with christological functions. Several titles are used in the New Testament that indicate how His role in salvation was perceived, often building on or modifying previous expectations associated with the title.
This title That our Lord mentions is called The Son of Man. He always uses it in third person but always is reffering to the humanity of the Messiah. The term may have also been borrowed from the book of Daniel, which speaks “one like a son of man” appearing “with the clouds of heaven” and coming “to the Ancient of Days” to be presented before him (; Again referring to The judgment of the entire world.
In Matthew, the title “Son of Man” has three primary senses. First, it focuses on Jesus’ suffering and humility.
Second, it stresses the power and authority Jesus had on earth.
Generally, the phrase “son of man” means “human one.” However, in some contexts the phrase appears to point to the divine figure in (see ). In Matthew, the title “Son of Man” has three primary senses. First, it focuses on Jesus’ suffering and humility (11:19; 12:40; 17:12, 22; 20:28; 26:64). Second, it stresses the power and authority Jesus had on earth (9:6; 12:8, 12:32; 13:37). Finally, it highlights His future coming as the exalted king, the “one like a son of man” portrayed in (; ; , , , ; ). Daniel uses the phrase “one like a son of man” to describe a figure who approaches the Ancient of Days and receives an everlasting kingdom. Contextually, the expression likely refers to a messianic figure; as a result, it developed into a messianic title, “Son of Man.” In several applications of the title to Himself, Jesus communicates His status as Messiah and His role as the inaugurator and ruler of the kingdom of God.

1. The first three weeks of this series focus on sins of commission—things we do in disobedience to God. Today, however, the series ends with a sermon on one of the greatest monsters of all—the sins of omission (what we don’t do for Christ).
2. Many people die with regrets. Most of these regrets revolve around what someone did not do. As a Christian, will you one day look back at what you didn’t do for Christ, and be filled with regret?
Following Christ is about what you should Do in obedience and love for him.
3. One day, a pizza delivery driver got fired, but couldn’t for the life of him understand why. “I didn’t speed. I never got a ticket. What did I do wrong?” he asked. The manager replied: “You never delivered any of the pizzas!” Following God’s “rules” doesn’t replace our responsibility to love others.25:32 a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats When shepherds brought in their flocks at the end of the day, they typically put the goats in a sheltered area while leaving the sheep in an open-air pen.

4. If Jesus walked into your church, in the middle of your sermon, all activity would stop. Everyone’s plans, schedules, and appointments wouldn’t matter at all anymore. People would drop everything. And if Jesus needed anything at all, you can you imagine how quickly people would scramble to help Him. Jesus tells us to help those who need Him in the way same we’d help Him if He were physically with us.

The sheep in this analogy represent genuine followers of Jesus . They are the righteous ones (v. 37).

The goats are the wicked, as well as those who may have thought themselves righteous but turn out not to be genuine followers of Jesus
Why is this? Baecuase.
Following Christ is about the actions you should DO in obedience and love for him.
25:34 Inherit the kingdom prepared for you The Jewish worldview of Jesus’ day envisioned the present age ending with a time of tribulation, followed by divine judgment. Then God’s kingdom—the age to come—would be fully inaugurated.
25:35 For I was hungry The actions described here (and in the next verse) reflect obedience to the command to love one’s neighbor—and thereby demonstrate love for God, as well (22:37–39).

The Final Seperation
“It is probably true that at his coming there will be first of all a resurrection and rewarding of his saints, a dividing of the ten cities, and the five cities, according to the faithfulness of those who were entrusted with talents; and at the close of that period will come that last tremendous day of which prophets and apostles have spoken.
“The day that many thought should never come;
That all the wicked wished should never come;
That all the righteous had expected long;
Day greatly feared, and yet too little feared
By him who feared it most.”
A day of fear and wrath, a day of destruction of the ungodly, a testing day to all mankind, a day which shall burn as an oven. We may tremblingly say of it, “Who may abide the day of his coming, and who shall stand when he appeareth? for he is like a refiner’s fire and like fuller’s soap.”
At that day when Christ shall come he shall judge all nations.”
- Charles Spurgeon
"What is the Parousia?"
The Greek word parousia (pronounced pair-oo-see-ah) is a noun that means "a coming" or "a presence."So, the Parousia is the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, and you have to look at the context to determine whether it refers to His appearing in the air to rapture or catch away the Church which is mentioned in (), or whether it refers to His second coming to Earth to setup His millennial kingdom in the text we are eating today(; ; ).
25:40 the least of these Jesus’ remarks here call for Christian care to reach all the way to the bottom of the social structure, thus inverting earthly values.
25:41 eternal fire Refers to divine wrath. See note on .
The stakes involved in our witness are eternal. The horrifying conclusion (25:46) is the damnation of people who did not actively embrace messengers of the gospel but nevertheless were oblivious to how they had offended God. The goats thus depart (7:23) into eternal fire (the worst possible conception of hell
Properly understood, this passage is saying that there is a denial of the label 'Christian' to any church not characterized by loving concern for the poor. It underlines the fact that, if Christ is King, his kingdom, his manner of kingship, is not of this world. Jesus' serious statement of his total identification with the poor, the outcast, and oppressed.
Following Christ is about the actions you should Do in obedience and love for him.
