Introduction - Years ago there was a popular gospel song that contained the words, “Kneel at the cross, he will meet you there.” That was the promise of Jesus to his disciples following the resurrection. That’s his promise to us today.

I He will meet us where we worship. “Where two or three are gathered in my name I will be in the midst of them.”

II He will meet us where we work. He can’t be confined to the walls of the church. He goes where fishermen fish and tax collectors sit at their desks.

III He will meet us where we weep – whether it’s in sorrow or over failure. He came to the graveside of Lazarus as Mary and Martha wept over the loss of Lazarus. He came to Peter as he wept tears of regret over his failure. Jesus met both of them at the place of their weeping.

Conclusion And when we die he will meet us there. We don’t have to cross Jordan alone. He is ever-present and he will meet us where we are. As the hymn says, “Come while he waits for you.”
