It Is Christ We Serve
It is Christ we serve, not each other.
The suffering we see and hear,
In the world of others and our own,
Is the suffering of Christ Himself.
It is Christ we injure, not each other.
The pain and death we inflict,
With our words, our deeds, and actions,
Is the wounding of Christ Himself.
It is Christ we hold, not each other.
The arms wrapped tight around us,
Pleading for mercy and love,
Are the arms of Christ Himself.
It is Christ we serve, not each other.
The tears that fall on our shoulder,
From those we hold in our arms,
Are the tears of Christ Himself.
