Last week we looked at deciding to allow God to give us God sized vision/goal for our lives
Repented for having too small an image of God
Beniah chased a lion into a pit on a snowy day
We need to be chasing our lion sized goals
This week’s sermon is about the courage it takes to make those dreams a reality.
No sense God giving you a dream when you won’t have the courage to live it
Courage is a decision - not a feeling
There will be fear involved with a God sized dream/goal
Because if your dream does not scare you its too small
Examples of goals that can scare you
Just going outside (anxiety)
Going to a job interview
Going to a job interview
Failing at something…but facing it again
Facing the challenges of going to college
You will be the first in your family to do that!
Believing you can love again after a heartbreaking relationship
We are reading from ......David’s mighty men
change your community
change your country
Can YOU do such a thing...

David started out with 400 men who were: (MESSAGE TRANSLATION)
David started out with 400 men who were: (MESSAGE TRANSLATION)
Not only that, but all who were down on their luck came around—losers and vagrants and misfits of all sorts. David became their leader. There were about four hundred in all.
These and others became David’s mightiest warriors
These are the names of David’s mightiest warriors. The first was Jashobeam the Hacmonite, who was leader of the Three—the three mightiest warriors among David’s men. He once used his spear to kill 800 enemy warriors in a single battle.
These were men of incredible courage and strength
They dedicated themselves to a mission - David’s mission
Because it was also God’s mission - They were able to accomplish God sized things
Why are they in the bible?
To inspire us to our own acts of courage for God
Every success you have is a success for God -
because people are watching
Every time you survive adversity with grace
it is a testimony
Every time you attempt what people say you cannot do
it glorifies God when you succeed
What Does Courage Look Like
Feeling Fear Yet Choosing to Act
Feeling Fear Yet Choosing to Act
I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear — Nelson Mandela
As Samson arrived at Lehi, the Philistines came shouting in triumph. But the Spirit of the Lord came powerfully upon Samson, and he snapped the ropes on his arms as if they were burnt strands of flax, and they fell from his wrists. Then he found the jawbone of a recently killed donkey. He picked it up and killed 1,000 Philistines with it.

Being terrified but going ahead and doing what must be done—that's courage. The one who feels no fear is a fool, and the one who lets fear rule him is a coward. ― Piers Anthony

We all have things that we know we should be doing but don’t because they frighten us
The right thing to do is always the hardest thing to do!
Courage in this situation is
to dare to step out and do whatever it is you KNOW you should be doing
Courage will have the following elements
Following Your Inner voice
Following Your Inner voice
God’s voice to us is always a small still voice
Isaiah had an earthquake, wind and fire
God was in the whisper
This is something echo’d by Steve Jobs the creator of the Apple corp, Iphone, Ipad..etc
And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” — Steve Jobs, Stanford commencement speech, June 2005
Put in Quote
Steve Job’s did not know it, but he was referring to the still small voice of God that speaks to our hearts and being
God knows what you want to become and be
You were created with a mission - a purpose - and the ability to fulfill that purpose
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.
We need to listen to hear what these things are
He put the desire within you to achieve these things
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desires.
Psalm 34:
If we delight in God
Spend time with God and delight in him (choose to be with him and listen to him)
He will show us what the right desires are
He will show us what we have been made for
Wealth status
Famous
He will show us what we have been made for
God promises to give us the power to achieve these dreams
We listen to
God is awesome in his sanctuary. The God of Israel gives power and strength to his people. Praise be to God!
Everyone wants to be
He will show us what we have been made for
