Where does wisdom come from?

For the Lord gives wisdom; From His mouth come knowledge and understanding; He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; He guards the paths of justice, and preserves the way of His saints.

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Wisdom is relational, not informational.

And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

We shall not find his acceptable and perfect will in Scripture. What does Alcohol and the Holy Spirit have in common?

Sources of bravery and happiness

Alcohol is a depressant.

Wall flowers turn into Saturday Night Fever.

Happy Hour and grabbing a few drinks after work.

They are not filled with wine, but the Spirit.

Singing songs, giving thanks, and submission are the overflow of the Spirit-filled life.

Under the influence of alcohol we lose control. Under the influence of the Holy Spirit we do not lose control; we gain it.

Alcohol hides reality allowing us to forget our problems. The Holy Spirit opens us up to the greater reality of what is available now in Christ.

As children of light, what are you hiding from?

The greatest wisdom ever revealed to us is the Love and unshakable acceptance God has for you because of the sacrifice of Jesus. That revelation removes all fear and allows us to let the Holy Spirit shine his light into the darkest places of our hearts.
