What come into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.
When a person’s world comes closing or crashing in, what is their image of God?
In , when war broke out against David and he was besieged by an army, he sandwiched around his situation his view of God.
He began by praying to his personal God: “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” ().
He concluded by communicating the one thing he would ask.
If an army surrounded me, the one thing I would ask for would be rescue! Not David. His request was that he could “gaze upon the beauty of the Lord” ().
David understood that the most important thing about us in the midst of suffering and sin is our image of God.
We may live or sit next to someone who is broken and sometimes we are confused as to how to respond.
Here’s a radical suggestion, it’s that our first thought should be about our triune God.
Mentally you’re maybe saying, “What?” instead of “Amen”.
This is because we are all part of our secular culture which begins with us-who are we?
As believers, our starting is actually before time, with our God, and our relationship with God.
Our personal understanding of Him.
