PSALM 1

The Way of the Righteous and the End of the Ungodly

1 Blessed is the man

Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly,

Nor stands in the path of sinners,

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD,

And in His law he meditates day and night.

3 He shall be like a tree

Planted by the rivers of water,

That brings forth its fruit in its season,

Whose leaf also shall not wither;

And whatever he does shall prosper.

4 The ungodly are not so,

But are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,

Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous,

But the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Nor sits in the seat of the scornful;

The Lord is more concerned by the methods of our success then he is our success.

God is the giver of success-he's not looking for help he's looking for our humility.

There many influences vying for our mental attention.

In this passage will learn that God cares about our methods in our motives more than he does the money in our bank accounts or any trapping of success that the world might be fooled by.

Are "blessedness", comes from the fact that we're in fellowship with God which should bring us joy.

One should never confuse joy with the feeling of bliss often associated with "happiness".

Our joy is a result of the relationship we have with God in Jesus.

While some may see our success as a result of whatever labor we're engaged in; we realize that our provision comes from God. Therefore we must be careful the tactics we use in growing successful that we don't disqualify ourselves in our actions from the provision that God wants to give us.

A persons blessedness is a gift from God. as an act of my will i need to practice two behaviors: 1) disassociation with the wicked and association with God.

[Nor sits] in the seat of the scornful; This word scornful is the same word used elsewhere in the wisdom literature and translated as scornful is the same word for mocker in the proverbs.

a fool is one who will not consider or value the counsel of God, his word or his way.

The Prosperity promised here is a result of access to my heart and mind.

some of us need to stop trying to force God to cosign on the visions of the flesh and renew ourselves.
