Ro 1:16-17. John de Jongh. In this year, the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, it's good to consider the heart of that movement: the Gospel. Martin Luther was radically changed by the explanation of the Gospel in the book of Romans, particularly in 1:16-17. The truth of God's power for salvation and God's righteousness being revealed through faith; it was a shining light in a dark world. The Gospel remains a light for us – one we can see with faith, knowing it means we have good standing with God, all thanks to Jesus Christ.
