God is Even Our God..He Blesses His Believers!

Intro: Papa may have and Mama my have, but God bless the child that has its own.
Expl: The PS. is a Psalm of David: It is divided into two parts: v. 1, the verses 2-5.
The thrust of the Ps. is that all nation praise God for His power and glory.
God’s glory is seen by His people the Jews,
God’s grace is seen by the nations, the Gentiles.
Inter: What happens when God is our own God; What can we say about our personal relationship with our God.
TS: As we look at the text we will discover more truth about Our God..
MP. I. We Live in the Face of God. v. 1.
Favor - God be merciful.. hnn.. hunan.. the word is in the imperfect text.... continuing unfolding favor that yields blessings..
Favor - is grace…goodwill, pity, compassion, Heartfelt response to give to someone in need from the Greater to the Lesser.
Imp: Favor is the combo of grace and mercy in light of my flaws and failures because we are His elect.
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions. 2 Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin. 3 For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me. 4
And Esau said, I have enough, my brother; keep that thou hast unto thyself. 10 And Jacob said, Nay, I pray thee, if now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou wast pleased with me. 11 Take, I pray thee, my blessing that is brought to thee; because God hath dealt graciously with me, and because I have enough. And he urged him, and he took it.
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: 25 The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: 26 The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. 27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. The Result of Living in the Face of God is PEACE… SHALOM.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land
App: We are to exhibit … compassion and sympathy… and live in the face of the God and God places His name on us…
ILL: He Dared Not Face Music
He Dared Not Face Music
A man was able to join the Emperor of China’s orchestra, although he could not play a note. Whenever the group played, he would hold his flute against his lips, not daring even to blow softly for fear he might cause a discord. He received a modest salary and was able to live comfortably.
A man was able to join the Emperor of China’s orchestra, although he could not play a note. Whenever the group played, he would hold his flute against his lips, not daring even to blow softly for fear he might cause a discord. He received a modest salary and was able to live comfortably.
One day, the emperor happened to desire that each musician play for him solo. The flutist became desperate. He tried to take quick professional lessons but to no avail, but he really had no ear for music. He pretended to be sick, but the Royal Physician who attended him knew better, causing him to be increasingly apprehensive.
On the day of his solo appearance, he took poison rather than face the music. From this comes the old Chinese proverb: “He dared not face the music.”
MP. II. We Give by the Hand of God. v. 5
Yield, increase, Give: hear the name Nathan… means to set, place, commit, cast, make, send..
Imp: Material Blessings: God is a giver of material and spiritual blessings. God gave us the creations… gave us life.. gave the garden..God gave water from the rock , and manna from heaven…

A Gift of God

Wealth, like manna, is the gift of God. It is like that spread by His hand around us every day. Some are able to gather much more than others. By their skill, health, diligence, or by providential arrangements, they are eminently successful.

Others are sick, aged, unskilled, and less successful. All that is obtained is by the arrangement of God. The health, the strength, the skill, the wisdom by which we are enabled to obtain wealth, are all His gift.

Honestly obtained wealth should be regarded as His bounty, and we should esteem it a privilege daily to impart to others less favored and less successful. To continue the analogy, manna—if kept more than a single day—became foul and loathsome. Does not wealth that should have been distributed to relieve the wants of others become corrupting in its nature? Wealth, like manna, should be employed in the service which God designs—employed to diffuse everywhere the blessings of religion, comfort, and peace.

. 13 I can do all things uthrough 6Christ who strengthens me.

14 Nevertheless you have done well that vyou shared in my distress. 15 Now you Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, wno church shared with me concerning giving and receiving but you only. 16 For even in Thessalonica you sent aid once and again for my necessities. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek xthe fruit that abounds to your account. 18 Indeed I 7have all and abound. I am full, having received from yEpaphroditus the things sent from you, za sweet-smelling aroma, aan acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God. 19 And my God bshall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. 20 cNow to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.

“The Gospel of Giving” - Several years ago I wrote a book entitled The Gospel of Giving. That is what Christianity is all about. God gave His Son. The Son gave His life. We are exhorted to give of our means and ourselves to carry the gospel to all people everywhere.

MP. III. We Have Faith in the Heart of God. v.6
God shall bless us and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.. fear, afraid, regard with feelings of reverence.
fear
Fear of God...The fear of God is distinct from the terror of him that is also a biblical motif. attitudes of awe and reverence.
Imp: The fear of God for the Child of God is exhibited by faith… trusting in Him.. We are God-fearers…
If you ffear the LORD and serve Him and obey His voice, and do not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then both you and the king who reigns over you will continue following the LORD your God.

14 If you ffear the LORD and serve Him and obey His voice, and do not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then both you and the king who reigns over you will continue following the LORD your God.
The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever. “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding
" Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? 26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they? 27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature? 28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be. 19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sara's womb: 20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; 21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. 23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; 24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; 25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification. KJV Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good report. 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. 4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh. 5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

App: We hate the things that God hates and we avoid evil… and when in despair… cling to God’s faithfulness...
Know that God always has a remnant of faithful followers…
Our character as God’s people should be that of faithfulness… i.e. salt..
Salt used with sacrifice to recall’s God’s covenant
Salt means we make a difference in the world
Salkt means
Salt means we counter moral decay in the world… and are useful unto the Lord
ILL: • Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible. • Faith is to accept the impossible, do without the indispensable, and bear the intolerable. • Faith is idle when circumstances are right, only when they are adverse is one’s faith in God exercised. Faith, like muscle, grows strong and supple with exercise. • Don’t be afraid to take a big step if one is indicated. You can’t cross a chasm in two small jumps. —David Lloyd George • A little faith will bring your soul to heaven; a great faith will bring heaven to your soul. —Spurgeon • Faith is not believing that God can, but that God will! • Faith is to believe what we do not see; and the reward of this faith is to see what we believe.
What is faith?
(1) Saying ‘Amen’ to God. (2) Forsaking All I Take Him. Acrostic: F-A-I-T-H. (3) Famous definitions:
• “Faith is to believe what we do not see, and the reward of this faith is to see what we believe.”—AUGUSTINE. • “If the blind put their hand in God’s, they find their way more surely than those who see but have not faith or purpose.” —HELEN KELLER. . • “Faith is the title—deed of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” —HARRY RIMMER.
