God Gave Me A Second Chance
God Gave Me A Second Chance – Isaiah 1: 10-20
Prophetic Book- Prelude to the Coming of the Messiah
Isaiah’s names mean The Lord is my Salvation. He prophesied under four kings. In Isaiah chapter 6 it states that in the year that King Uzziah died that Isaiah saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of his robe filled the temple.
Isn’t it amazing that sometimes in order to really see God some people have to move out of our way. He saw God in all of his honor and glory and he saw the seraphim cry out Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts: The whole earth is full of his glory.
After seeing this, Isaiah says I am undone, I am a man of unclean lips and I live among people of unclean lips. For my eyes have seen the King. The Lord of hosts.
The bible says that one of the seraphim placed a coal on his lips and touched his lips and said to Isaiah your iniquity is taken away and your sin purged.
God said whom shall I send and who will go for US? Then Isaiah said Here I am! Send me.
He prophesies against the rebellion of Israel.
To rebel is a term that is often used when a Father is disappointed. God diagnosed the problem and its effects on the relationship that his children has with him. Sin is basically rebellion.
Worship: The issue of Blood Sacrifice is the attitude of the heart.
Why am I in church? Why am I a Christian? Why do I preach, sing in the choir, pray or even worship?
There two Attributes of God that are important to every Christian.
The First is the Mercy of God: Psalms 136 says, His mercy endures forever. Mercy is a blessing resulting from divine favor or compassion. It is in essence compassion shown when you know you are guilty.
Jeremiah said in Lamentations 3:22-24
“ Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed. Because His
Compassions fail not. They are new every morning: Great is thy
Faithfulness. The Lord is my portion, says my soul. Therefore
I Hope in Him!.”
The Song writer said great is thy faithfulness, morning by morning new mercies I see. All that I needed, God’s hands has provided. Great is thy Faithfulness, Oh Lord towards me. He is a faithful God in his mercies.
The Second is the Grace of God
It is the unmerited help given to people by God (as in overcoming temptation).
Approval, Acceptance, Attractiveness, and beauty.
It’s time for repentance: Repentance means: Turn from sin. To feel sorry for something that we did wrong. To feel regret.
I am Glad that I repented. When I repented God gave me a brand new life. When I repented he declared that in Christ we are new Creatures. Old things have passed away and all things have become new. When I repented I got back in line with God.
Romans 6: 1 – What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Romans 8: There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who walk do not walk after the flesh, but according to the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Israel was in need of repentance.
Forgetting those things which are behind and moving to those things which are before me, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling which is in Christ Jesus. I am so glad for another chance.
I got a second chance to praise his name. To call upon him, to shout the victory. What can wash away my sins, nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me hold again, nothing but the blood of Jesus.
I am still convinced that there is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel’s veins and sinner plunged beneath that flow and they lose all their guilty stain.
Talk about David, talk about Peter, talk about Paul, talk about yourself.
Conclude with the second chance opportunity. God is just a prayer away. All you have to do is call. He will heal all of your guilt. He is concerned about you.
As the deer panteth for the waters oh my soul longs for you God. He is the air I am desperate for God. I am lost without you.
