APPLICATION: A TRUE BELIEVER IS TOTALLY SET FREE FROM THE PENALTY OF SIN. THERE IS NO GREATER GIFT APART FROM SALVATION THAT COULD BE GIVEN TO US. YOU ARE FREE! USE YOUR FREEDOM TO GLORIFY CHRIST IN YOUR CHRISTIAN WALK.

Romans 8:1–8 NKJV
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. 5 For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. 8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

1. --Faith--- in Christ sets a person ---free.(1-2)

Romans 8:1–2 NKJV
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.
Matthew 18:23–27 NKJV
23 Therefore the kingdom of heaven is like a certain king who wanted to settle accounts with his servants. 24 And when he had begun to settle accounts, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents. 25 But as he was not able to pay, his master commanded that he be sold, with his wife and children and all that he had, and that payment be made. 26 The servant therefore fell down before him, saying, ‘Master, have patience with me, and I will pay you all.’ 27 Then the master of that servant was moved with compassion, released him, and forgave him the debt.
wiped clean from whatever we owe
NO- carries the idea of always complete
Story: kids ask over and over the same question hoping to get a different answer- asnwer is still no...
1 john :1-
Stay with girl has brother her age- no way
1 John 1:8–9 NKJV
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
the concept of total forgiveness is a hard concept... we can't fathom someone wiping our slate clean and will never ever ever hold us accountable bc he paid the price .
That does not mean he does not discipline and it does not mean we are not going to have privileges
For instance the Word is clear he disciplines and it is clear of different crowns believers receive based on their body of work , but Jesus paid the debt and bc of His payment we owe nothing.

A. No ------condemnation

B. No ------death

Give thanks to him today he qualified us to be acceptable
Colossians 1:12 NKJV
12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
We couldn't do enough to be accepted. Christ did it all
"In Christ" is 🔑
Remember a scripture I have went back to several time
- Christ lives in me.....think about it
Galatians 2:20 NKJV
20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.
-- not our own bought with a high price (new living translation)
1 Corinthians 6:20 NKJV
20 For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

2. Christ is the only one who obeyed all parts of the law.

By doing so he became the perfect sacrifice. So when the curtain was ripped from top to bottom it shook the Jewish community. The access that was denied only to the priest once a year was open and you could see in. Jesus filled the gap.
Best example church today and what we are trying to accomplish. It's a big deal.
The didn't understand they could not
Obtain heaven based on their own merit. It totally ticked them off when someone said otherwise. Just like churches across this state is dying and don't have to be bc they dont realize you can lead people to Jesus using other methods.

A. Jesus faced --our weaknesses and --defeated sin.

Go back to chapter 7. This is huge realize this. Craig Gilley is a sinner, even though I try to do right sometimes the crooked little demon entices to me to respond incorrectly. I have said things I wish I didn't say to people including my family, I have done things I wish I didn't do, I think things I wish I never did. I know there wrong and don't want them in my life but in a weak moment I mess up. In the battle you left gonna make a wrong move... here is the deal, if we could realize people or human, Christians are human and the cross is the only hinge that completes them, only then would we have a true church, striving to be closer to the only one who paid the price.
- Jesus fulfilled
Matthew 5:17 NKJV
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
- what if we are really good
James 2:10 NKJV
10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.
- tempted but without sin
Hebrews 4:15 NKJV
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

B. Jesus stood in (Your Name) place.

Important note: it was not keeping the law perfect, it was not because he taught perfect, but it is only because he made the perfect sacrifice on the cross.

3. Humanity --cannot please- God apart from Jesus Christ.

Set there mind---bent toward and patterns

A. Your -fleshly desires bring death.

2 Peter 2:10 NKJV
10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,
Philippians 3:19 NKJV
19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame—who set their mind on earthly things.

B. Your -spiritual desires bring life and -peace

Craig Gilley
