G-Biology 101: Body Parts
G-Biology 101: Body Parts
Since I work in the NSW Health. I need to have a little bit of knowledge about human anatomy.
How many organs are there in the human body?
According to the well known and most genius researcher in the world at the moment, Professor Doctor Google.com:
There are approximately 78 organs, they are:
Adrenal Glands Anus Appendix Bladder Bones Brain Bronchi Ears Esophagus Eyes Gall Bladder Genitals Heart Hypothalamus Kidneys Large Intestine Larynx (voice box)Liver Lungs Lymph Nodes Mouth Nose Pancreas Parathyroid Glands Pituitary Gland Prostate Rectum Salivary Glands Skeletal Muscles Skin Small Intestine Spinal Cord Spleen Stomach Thymus Gland Trachea Thyroid Ureters Urethra.
Ureters Urethrauth Nose Pancreas Parathyroid Glands Pituitary Gland Prostate Rectum Salivary Glands Skeletal Muscles Skin Small Intestine Spinal Cord Spleen Stomach Thymus Gland Trachea Thyroid
Another fundamental facts that we need to know about our body organs is:
UretersUrethra
Different organs work together to perform a common function, like how the parts of your digestive system break down food. We refer these integrated units a organ systems. Groups of organ systems work together to make complete, functional organisms, like us! There are 11 major organ systems in the human body, which include the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, excretory, nervous and endocrine systems. The immune, integumentary, skeletal, muscle and reproductive systems are also part of the human body.

Not only organs, but 1 body we have 600 muscles, number of blood cells enough to circle the Earth twice, 40000 chemical enzymes, millions of neurons, billions of interconnections among them, and many other parts which haven’t yet been discovered or named.
In summary, even though we have so many different body parts, organs, cells in our body, they all work together to make a complete, functional human body. When humans do not have a certain body part or they do not function properly, we are disabled or abnormal. All of the body parts, big or small, visible or not visible are equally important. They all have carry out their functions properly in order for the body to work and grow.

2.
Now our topic is about relationships and unity, why am I talking about body parts and their functions?
Because the Bible told us that we, followers and disciples of Christ, are like parts of the human body. We form one body of Christ.
3.
Our main passage today is
Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.
Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. If they were all one part, where would the body be? As it is, there are many parts, but one body.
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.
YOU ARE AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE BODY
Clearly we need to realise that we are all one body of Christ. And you and I, are parts of the body.
4.
Maybe we should start addressing each other as body parts. Joke
that
You are an important part of the body of Christ.
So we are all different body parts. And each of us, are an important part of the body of Christ. Tell the people next to you, you are an important part of the body of Christ.
A lot of the times satan makes us think that we are not important in our church or community. He made us think that we are not important because we are not like someone else, we cannot do what that person does. And when we think we are not important, we stop functioning properly, we stop doing things that God has called us to do. We become a passive body parts, we stop exploring and expanding our potentials. And this is very dangerous, this kind incorrect self image, will reflect in our daily life, and will stop you from fulfilling your calling.
5.
Verse 15: Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be?
Do you know which finger of your hand gives you the most power for your hand? Pinky and ring finger. Without pinky, you lose 50% of your hand power.
See, sometimes we think that someone is more important than us because they look greater, smarter, quicker, better at managing time than us. And I am just a clown that doesn’t know how to be serious. But the reality is, you could be the joints that stick the bones and muscles together. Your community will lose 50% of their potential without you.
We all have our own strengths and weaknesses, we are unique in our own ways. And there is a purpose for all of that and we need to acknowledge that from God’s eyes. This is especially important for leaders to know. Because sometimes we forget that our role as leaders is to guide and encourage people, not force. Because most of the time we try to make people to think like us, do things the way that we do. Because we are experienced and so good at it. I am preaching to myself here. But Hey, we need to know, when God anoints someone, this person will rise and
Verse 18: But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be.
So God is the one who placed us where He wants us to be. And when He has sent and placed us somewhere, we are very important and He will equip and enable us to accomplish His mission. Our role is to obey Him, know our function, and listen to His instructions at all time.
2. KNOW YOUR FUNCTION AND LISTEN TO HIS INSTRUCTIONS
How do we know our functions??
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills.
The last verse says “All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as He wills”. So our functions do not depend on us, it depends on God who apportions to each one of us. There’s nothing that we can do to earn it.
Your gifts and functions will be revealed to you by God and the Holy Spirit. You just have to pray and have faith. This is the key.
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.
Moses
By faith he left Egypt, not being afraid of the anger of the king, for he endured as seeing him who is invisible.
And then in verse 33 it was said that By faith that these people conquered kingdoms...
who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.
who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
It will be revealed to you. Have faith.
Heb 11:33-34
When these people have faith, God revealed to them their functions and what they need to do.
Once we know our function as a body, then we need to keep paying attention to instructions from the head.
Ephenisans 4:15-16 tells us that Christ is the head. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
It’s the same with our body when we perform something? Through brain signals.
We move our hand because the brain in our head sends a signal for the hand to move. When they are in sync, everything works great and our body is functioning properly.
But imagine if your body parts have their own brains. They are all doing different things and they are not listening to what the brain is telling. How catastrophic that would be? How can you carry out your function when you are not listening to the head?
But the good God has given a clear instruction and manual for us to follow. Through the Holy Spirit and the Holy Scripture.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
This is our main reference. Our main user manual to become an effective and impactful arms and feet of Christ.
3. SUPPORT AND CARE EACH OTHER
1 Cor 12:21-2

Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
We have to be able too see ourselves and others as the body of Christ. Regardless of our roles and responsibilities, we are all equally important and need support as much as everyone else. As Rimen has shared a few weeks ago, we are all weak and vulnerable and its ok to feel that way.
For example, just because Luke and I are elders, it does not mean that we are stronger than everyone else and we will be able to manage our problems without anyone’s help. No, we have our down moments too. If not, more often than the others. The more responsibilities you have, the more pressures and jugdement you will get from people and also satan. We are desperate and need every single support that we can get from you guys. Even though a lot of the time we get more judgments than support. But we still love everyone. I am not saying this to get your attention. But we want you to know that we are as vulnerable and as weak as everyone else, we are just the same body parts like you placed by God to carry out our functions.
I don’t want to you to focus on supporting us, but really love and care for people around you equally. Like what was said in the verse: There should not be division in the body, but all parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
Do not judge and stamp people
presentable parts need no special t
There should not be division in the body, but all parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
Let brotherly love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares. Remember those who are in prison, as though in prison with them, and those who are mistreated, since you also are in the body.
There should not be division in the body, but all parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.
You will be surprised when you start opening your eyes, how many people around you actually need your support and wish they have someone to talk to.
We are all the same human that face the same battles, battles with our life, family, work, and also the devil that happens all the time. One way for us to win the battles is acknowledge your weakness and fight together with others. After putting God first of course.
Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.
See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end.
Hebrews 13:
But exhort one another every day, as long as it is called “today,” that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. For we have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original confidence firm to the end. As it is said,
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.
Take care, brothers, lest there be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart, leading you to fall away from the living God.
There was one interesting question about ‘what is the most important organ in humans body?’
Someone tried to answer and say It’s the brain, because there is no device/implant that can replicate the task it performs. You cannot transplant a brain. And heart and lungs are are also vital, if they don’t work you die in minutes. But other organs are important too, like liver and kidneys, and the list goes on.
What’s interesting is at the end of his/her explanation, he says “We are complex organisms and all our body parts work together to keep us functioning.”
We have different roles, different characters, different strengths and weaknesses
We have different roles, different characters, different strengths and weaknesses
When one body part breaks, I use other parts of my body to cover while the other part recovers.
We have different purposes, different roles, different characters, different strengths and weaknesses. That makes us a whole body.
If you don’t see yourself as the body of Christ why are you here? What is your purpose?
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function,
Rom
1 Cor 12:12-18
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
For the body does not consist of one member but of many. If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell? But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose.
Many people only look for people who are like them. Who think alike.
But having differences have their own challenges. The key is remember that we are parts of one body, and we need each other even though we don’t feel like it.
Remember the focus i.e. Jesus - He is the head, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.
Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Every part of the body supports one another
When one body part breaks, I use other parts of my body to cover while the other part recovers.
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
Pray and ask God what roles do you have in the church? Which part of the body are you?
We need to pray that all members find something that do within the body of Christ. But we need to be sensitive to what the Holy Spirit gives them.
Be bold with your gifts.
I encourage you to read the remaining parts of to help you find what your roles are.
