Beginning in the latter half of the twentieth century, we saw an increase in the number of people, some Christian and some not, predicating a precise time for the end of the world. Books were published which laid out elaborate timetables linking Biblical prophecies and current events. If we were to put them all together, they would collectively be batting .000 in terms of their prognostications! It is natural for believers to be eagerly awaiting Christ’s return; after all, we long to see an end to sin, suffering, and death as well as the consummation of the Kingdom. Yet our watchfulness must not hinder our continued effectiveness in sharing the Gospel message. Indeed, we who know that Christ is coming like “a thief in the night” should be all the more fervent in telling others about Him. We invite you to join us as we study how Paul instructed the Thessalonian church about the “Times and Seasons” in 1 Thess. 5:1-11.
