Opening with Scripture

Let’s break bread together by turning to the book of John 3:16 (NKJ):

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.   This is the gospel in a nutshell.

The love of God shown in action, the source of love is God,  the extent of love is the world, the sacrifice of love is that God gave his only begotten Son, the results of love is whosoever believeth in him should not perish.

Why do people sometimes feel some unloved, that they take their own life? Why do people sometimes hold on to hurt and pain? Why do people sometimes feel that there is no hope, no one who loves them? One reason is that no one shared the love of God given to them with others so that Satan cannot hold the lie over people minds. Other reason - some of us forgot about God’s message of love, or we just don’t know the real biblical truth about this message of love from God. So today our topic is about “A Personal Message of Love From God”.

God Has An Important Personal Message for You About Love

When we talk about love, many of us  speak from a source of love that is human or worldly, but human love is not the love of God, because our human love is biased and often impure as to its motives. Human love is selfish and is usually given out on the basis of what it can hope to get in return! God’s love is NOT worldly! God’s love is ALWAYS PURE, ALWAYS HOLY, ALWAYS SEEKING what is best for the object it loves – YOU!! God’s love is given freely without the hope of desire for ANYTHING in return. God loves, because HE IS LOVE!  Says this very thing in 1 John 4:8 stating, "Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love." It also shows us in the Word of God that His love is never ending - Jer. 31:3 3 The LORD has appeared of old to me, saying: “ Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.  His love is always given first in 1 John 4:19 19 We love Him because He first loved us.

How wide is the scope of God’s Love for you? Glad you asked!! We are told in our passage that God “so loved the world”. The word “so” indicates the DEPTH of His love. It describes the MANNER of His love for fallen men – those not of Him. It is a DEEP love that motivated God to send His Son to die for the lost – those not of Him. This is UNCOMMON LOVE! This is GOD LOVE! Check out the object of God’s GREAT love: the world. By its very definition, this love is no ordinary love! It is a special love that seeks to give itself away on behalf of the objects loved – YOU!! We should not be surprised by this, because after all, to love is the very nature of God,  as the Word says in 1 John 4:16 16 And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.

Brothers and Sisters, regardless of the curve balls life may have delivered to you, you need to know today that GOD LOVES YOU! Even better, there is NOTHING you can do to make Him stop loving you. God tells us this in Rom. 8:38-39 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

When we talk about the sacrifice of God’s personal love for you, the true value of love lies in what love is willing to give to those it loves. You see, God’s love is not static or self-centered! His love doesn’t just sit quietly by while men drop off into Hell! God’s personal love for you prompted Him to do something for those He loves! God’s love is seen in the gracious gift of His Son Jesus on the cross. The death of Jesus Christ for us-you, we sinners are the greatest, most visible and the absolute final word concerning God’s love for humanity!

God has a Personal Message for You About Life

Now, when it comes to your worth, the worth of your life, God was not content to see man lost in sin. He was not content to watch humanity march off into endless torment. God declared man WORTHY OF HIS LOVE! What grace! What love! Brother and sisters, we are not talking about people who are friendly to God! No! No! The Word of God in Rom. 8:7 declares the lost man to be God’s enemy; Rom. 8:7 - 7 For the concern of the flesh is hostility toward God; it does not submit to the law of God, nor can it! In spite of man’s sinful state, in spite of the fact that the natural man hates God and opposes all God stands for, God STILL saw value in human life! Understand that people around you may question your worth, but God declares you to be worth His Son, Jesus!

In our passage God mentions the ultimate worry of life. He uses the word “perish”. This word means “to destroy, to give over to the misery of hell.” I am here to let you know that there is a worry GREATER than cancer, GREATER than losing a child in death, GREATER than losing a mate. The most horrible thing that can happen to anyone is for them to live their entire life without a relationship with the Lord and then die and go to Hell! NOTHING in this world or eternity beyond can compare with dying without Jesus Christ! There is no thought more horrible than the thought of going to Hell, forever, with no hope of release or reprieve. Yet, that will be the fate of many who do not hear and act on the message of love from God – a personal message for each and every one of you.

Not everyone will experience the lake of fire! Those who are saved will enjoy “everlasting life”. They are in a state of being in which they can never die! Because they know Jesus, they know the Prince of Life and they are alive forever more and in the Word, John 11:25-26 says that 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”.

Death may claim these earthly bodies, but the spirits of the redeemed will live on with Jesus in Heaven. The Word says in 2 Cor. 5:1-8 that 1 For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed with our habitation which is from heaven, 3 if indeed, having been clothed, we shall not be found naked. 4 For we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed, that mortality may be swallowed up by life. 5 Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee. 6 So we are always confident, knowing that while we are at home in the body we are absent from the Lord. 7 For we walk by faith, not by sight. 8 We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.; Phil. 1:23 23 For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.

The difference between the saved man and the lost man lies in one word: JESUS, as it says in 1 John 5:12 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. Do you know Him? If you do, then you know all about the life I am trying to describe, because the moment you were saved, you became a partaker of His everlasting, eternal, new, heavenly life. John 10:10 says 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. Also, 2 Cor. 5:17 states that 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new! If you are saved, you know what He did for you and you know whether or not He lives within you!

God has a Personal Message for You About Liability

Let’s talk a little about personal liability. There is a precise liability because Jesus says that the difference between the saved man who enjoys everlasting life and the lost man who perishes is all wrapped up in the idea of “belief”. Here is the plan of salvation in its simplest form: Rom. 10:9-10 which says 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Acts 16:31 says 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Even more, Eph. 2:8-9 states 8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.; and of course John 3:16.

Everyone in this room is trusting in something or someone this morning! Only a fool wants to go to a lake of fire forever. Therefore, I believe that each person in this room has some hope of heaven, something that we believe in! You see, the saved man has trusted Jesus Christ, Jesus’ finished work at the cross and His resurrection from the dead as his only hope of salvation. The lost man has not trusted Jesus, as shown in 1 John 5:12 12 He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life! The lost man may trust many things, like works, religion, church membership, etc, but he is NOT trusting the one and only Son of God Who can save the soul!

There is also a personal liability and the truth of the matter is this: if you go to Hell, you will go because you did not trust Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior! It won’t be God’s fault! It will not be the church’s fault! You will not be able to blame your family or those hypocrites in the church. If you die without Jesus, you will have no one to blame but yourself! Brothers and sisters, your parents cannot make this decision for you! Your spouse cannot decide this for you! Your friends cannot do it for you - no one in this room can do it for you! If you want to be saved and go to Heaven when you leave this world, this is a decision you must make personally – believing in the personal message of love from God.

If you leave this world without Jesus, one day, you will stand before God and be judged for your sins, as stated in Rev. 20:11-15 11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

You will be sent away into the lake of fire to be tormented there forever. On that day, you will have no one to blame but yourself! There will be no one to point your finger at to blame. The blame will rest squarely on your own shoulders! Here is what the Lord says about the matter: John 5:39-40 39 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me. 40 But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. The Word of God also says in John 8:24 24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”!

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Do you know what the most beautiful word is in this entire text? It is the word "whoever." Jesus can save you, whoever you are. Whoever – no matter who you are. Whoever – no matter what you have done, no matter how evil and godless you have been, no matter how richly you deserve hell. Whoever – no matter what your nationality or skin color or ethnic group. Whoever – no matter if you are male or female, young or old. Whoever you are, you can be saved, you don't have to perish, if you – by grace – repent and believe.

To Conclude

I going to close by letting you know that God is waiting for you this morning. He is waiting for your response to His message of love. What will you do today? Brothers and sisters, are you really saved? Have you truly, genuinely trusted Jesus as your personal Savior? Have you been born again by the grace of God? If you haven’t submitted to Him and you know you need to, then you can do that today!

If you are saved, maybe you should get into the presence of the Lord this morning and thank Him for the time he touched your heart and changed your life! I praise His name that I listened the day He called me! How about you?

PRAISE GOD and thank you!
