God’s Perfection in Creation
God’s Perfection in Creation
As we read through and 2 we see a phrase “Elohim Yar Ki Tob” – God saw that it was good.
Day 2 - Atmosphere
Day 3 - Dry Land/Plant life
Practical, Desirable, Has Quality, Moral
Notice the order in which creation when
Day 4 - Sun and the Moon/The Rest of the Universe
Day 1 – Light is shown on creation
Day 5 - Fish life
We have discussed how it can be confusing to some how God created light before he created the sun and the stars, what we consider to be the source of light.
In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
Day 6 - Animal Life - Man and Woman
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
Notice a couple of things here.
In - we are told that all was Dark, but when God speaks, for the first time light is seen. God is the source of the light, and he makes a distinction between the darkness and the light, between day and night.
Remember - God’s abode would be in the third heaven.
And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.
In revelation 22 - God Totally dispels the darkness. there would be no other need of light apart from His presence in the new heaven and the new earth
Day 2 - God creates our atmosphere
Today, we understand why this is, because the space above out atmosphere is a vacuum where life cannot exist. God creates a firmament, boundaries from space to create an atmosphere where life can thrive!
Day 3 - Dry land appears/Plant life is created
The water gathers together and dry land begins to show. Then God creates plant life. This plant life would give off the needed oxygen for the rest of creation to breath.
Day 4 - the Sun, Moon and the rest of the universe was created.
These would give us light needed to sustain life as his physical presence would not be with his creation. They would be used also to mark the passage of time, to mark the seasons as they go.
Day 5 - Fish and bird life is created
Without the oxygen rich environment given by the plants, the atmosphere and the warmth, light and even gravitational effects of the sun and moon, this life would not have been possible.
Day 6 - Animal life and People.
Notice how through the creation account, there is a cadence that moves us to this crowning day where land animals are created and finally man and woman. you can see and feel how all of Gods work is building toward a crescendo.
Perfectly designed and planned, each day building upon the last. And all of it was Good. In Genesis Chapter 1 we see the Perfectness of God and his Work!
Day 7 - God Rested
God’s Love in Creation
God’s Love in Creation
Day 7 - Rest
takes a closer look for us at the creation account. Here, God is much more than a creator. We find that scripture zooms in from 10,000 feet to focus on the creation of man. Here God does not speak. Here he forms. Here he breaths. Man was something different.
Scripture describes what man became as a “Living Soul”
Soul speaks to the eternal nature of man. Its literally saying that man was an Alive Living being. All other parts of creation are “Living” but only man has a soul and is “Alive”
God created a Garden for Adam to live. Eden would be His source of food, His source of activity, and His source of obedience.
God see’s that man is alone, and brought all of the animals before Him that he would name them, but none of them would satisfy his need for companionship.
First, there are those that would turn away from the creation account at this point. There reasoning is that the shear number of animals that would have been brought before Adam to name them would have been impossible.
The answer to this is in the different kinds of animals
Second, why did God bring these animals before Adam to see if he found one that would be a companion to him? I do not believe it was because God was searching to see which one would work, but to show Adam that he would not find the type of companionship in any other part of creation. God helped Adam see his need for Eve.
When he saw her, he knew that she was who was needed to fulfill his desire for a companion to walk through his life with.
God’s Grace in Creation
God’s Grace in Creation
Through the first 2 chapters of Genesis we see God’s Perfection and His Love for all he had brought into existence. And for man, the one who would be a living soul, to be eternal, to be made in the image of God - there was but one command given. Do not eat of the tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil.
When tempted to disobey, they fell. They listened to Satan who tempted them with the idea God was holding something Good back from them. That God knew that if they ate from this tree - they would be God’s equal! So they ate - and they did experience new things. In that, satan spoke the truth.
They experienced shame - they saw their own Nakedness
They experienced fear - They were afraid when they heard God
They experienced pride - shifting the blame to others
They experienced toil - Adam would toil to provided for his family
They experienced pain - pain in childbirth, pain of chastisement
They experienced Grace - Through the promise of a Savior
Through the promise of the Messiah
