Our Happy God

Jeremiah 32:36-41

Sermon

Aim: After this lesson the hearer will know that God is rejoices is made happy with every restored relationship.

Main Idea; God rejoices with every restored relationship. Between Himself and between each other.

Introduction:

For thee past 5 Sundays we have been talking about the Attributes of God.

·       Our Loving God 

·       Our God of Truth

·       Our Holy God

·       Our Faithful God

·       The Sovereignty of God

The purpose of this was to get a better picture of to try and under stand God at a personal level.

The problem I have with this type of explanation of God is that words can’t begin to describe just how big God is.

I fear that I would never be able to communicate just

·       how powerful,

·        how loving,

·       how majestic

·       how truthful,

·       how faithful

·       or how holy God really is.

I fear that my mire presence in presenting God and His attributes takes away from the splendor and wonderfulness of God simply because I am such a flawed and frail human.

However God has asked me to try, He has brought me to a point in my life take He wants me to speak to others of Him.

So today we will look at another attribute of God “our Happy God” and I guess the question is what makes Good happy?

Why is it important to understand this attribute of God Let me give you an example.

My father and I --- What ever makes you happy.

I want to suggest that: God rejoices in relationships and I would say God that the restoration of relationships makes Him very happy.

God rejoices with every restored relationship.

Every time some comes to faith in Jesus Christ, every time one of His children returns to Him He is Happy.      

Jeremiah 32:36-41

"Now therefore thus says the Lord God of Israel concerning this city of which you say, 'It is given into the hand of the king of Babylon by sword, by famine and by pestilence.' 37"Behold, I will gather them out of all the lands to which I have driven them in My anger, in My wrath and in great indignation; and I will bring them back to this place and make them dwell in safety. 38"They shall be My people, and I will be their God; 39and I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me always, for their own good and for the good of their children after them. 40"I will make an everlasting covenant with them that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; and I will put the fear of Me in their hearts so that they will not turn away from Me. 41"I will rejoice over them to do them good and will faithfully plant them in this land with all My heart and with all My soul.

I.       God will gather all who belong to Him and bring them to safety. (v. 37)

II.    The nation of Israel will be God’s people and He will be their God. (v. 38-39)

A.  He will give them one heart.

B.  He will give then one way.

1.   He will do this that His people may always fear Him for their own good and the good of their children.

III.  God will make a promise with His people that He will never turn away from them. (v.40)

A.  God will always do good by them.

B.  He will put the fear of Him in them so that they will not turn from Him.

Romans 11:9-17 NLT

9David spoke of this same thing when he said, "Let their bountiful table become a snare, a trap that makes them think all is well. Let their blessings cause them to stumble.  10 Let their eyes go blind so they cannot see,
and let their backs grow weaker and weaker." 11Did God's people stumble and fall beyond recovery? Of course not! His purpose was to make his salvation available to the Gentiles, and then the Jews would be jealous and want it for themselves. 12Now if the Gentiles were enriched because the Jews turned down God's offer of salvation, think how much greater a blessing the world will share when the Jews finally accept it.  13I am saying all of this especially for you Gentiles. God has appointed me as the apostle to the Gentiles. I lay great stress on this, 14for I want to find a way to make the Jews want what you Gentiles have, and in that way I might save some of them. 15For since the Jews' rejection meant that God offered salvation to the rest of the world, how much more wonderful their acceptance will be. It will be life for those who were dead! 16And since Abraham and the other patriarchs were holy, their children will also be holy.For if the roots of the tree are holy, the branches will be, too.

    17But some of these branches from Abraham's tree, some of the Jews, have been broken off. And you Gentiles, who were branches from a wild olive tree, were grafted in. So now you also receive the blessing God has promised Abraham and his children, sharing in God's rich nourishment of his special olive tree.

IV.God will rejoice over His people. (v. 42)

A.  He will do them good.

B.  He will faithfully establish them in this land with all that He is..

 Matthew 23:36-37

36“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[b]
