004 The Goodness of God

, , , ,
What does Goodness of mean? God is kindhearted, gracious, good-natured and kind in His purpose.
I. God’s goodness is who He is, and He cannot be something He is not.
I. God’s goodness is who He is, and He cannot be something He is not.
We can pretend to be something that we are not.
ILL. Anaias and Saphira pretended to be good.
He will always act in goodness and never do anything bad.
It is impossible for God to be anything but Good that is who He is.
And His goodness has no bondaries, His goodness is immesurable.
A mountain can be large but it has limits on how large it can be.
The sun can be bright but the sun brightness has it’s limits.
An angle can good, but it’s goodness is not immesurable only God can claim that.
II. Because God is Good all things that He created were good, and the goodness we see in His creation derived from God.
We were made in the image of God, and our goodness is a part of that image
Sin has t
Isaiah 64:6 KJV 1900
But we are all as an unclean thing, And all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; And we all do fade as a leaf; And our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.
Even the right things we do, which are good things in God’s eyes are as filthy rags.
Goodness is who God is whereas our goodness is something we have to learn.
II. Because God is Good all things that He created were good, and the goodness we see in His creation derived from God.
,,,.
How did it become good, it was created by God who is good and cannot create anything that is bad.
Now, man goodness is the reflection of God’s goodness
We were made in the image of God, and our goodness is a part of that image
Goodness is who God is whereas our goodness is something we have to learn.
III. The goodness of God is the foundational truth that shapes our perspective towards God
A. How man thinks about God is how we will live.
* People in Suriname worship the spirits of the dead.
* These spirits were not kind and forgiving, but mean and revengful.
* They often would make offering to their gods to apease their anger.
* And how they thought of their god is how they lived.
B. In satan was attacking the character of God’s goodness.
*
What was satan saying, if God were good He would not hold back this knowledge of good and evil.
If God were good He would let you do what you want to do.
This caused Eve to doubt what God has said, caused here to disobey and rebel against her Creator.
C. How we view God’s goodness is how we will live a good life.
IV. The goodness of God is the reason we are living
Do you think the reason you were born was because you deserved to be born?
Do you think that the reason man was created is because we deserve to be created?
How can nothing deserve something?
There was a time when man never exsisted how can something that doesn’t exsist gain merit and because of that merit deserve life?
The answer is God out of His Goodness created us and when we sinned it was out of His goodness that He did not destroy us.
B.
Why would and eternal God bleed for us?
because of His goodness
Why would God forgive me once when I sinned and continue to forgive many times after that? Because He is Good.
Why does God answer prayer?
Is it because we deserve His goodness?
ILL. Great men of God, like Spergeon, Moody, Huston Taylor, David Livingston, men who prayer and God answered. We would say God anwered their prayer because they were really good, but I am sure they would denie that.
The prayers God anwered is not based upon man’s merit or goodness, but He answers prayer because He is Good.
We never get anything because of our own goodness or merit, it is only because God is Good.
V. The goodness of God is often looked at in the physical realm or as Solomon would this world under the sun.
God is Good, I survived a heartitack when Doctors were saying it should of killed me.
God is Good, if we weren’t delayed we would of been in that fatal traffic accendent.
God is Good, we didn’t have any money to pay the bills or buy food, but God provided.
God is Good, look at the nice house we have, the new car and all the necessities of life. God is Good.
But what about those people who don’t have these things, what do we say then?
I am not talking about heathens I am talking about Christians who love God and walk with Him and have a personnel realtionship.
I surivived a very dangerous heartattack, but what about those who haven’t survived? Do we say God was good to me but not you.
What about people who have died in auto accendents what do we say then?
What about those who live in third world countries, who struggle daily to put bread on the table?
The things that happen to us and the situations in life we find ourselves in does not determine the goodness of God.
GOD IS GOOD THAT IS WHO HE IS AND OUR SURSTANCES IN THIS LIFE DOES NOT LIMIT HIS GOODNESS.
How can one look at God Goodness in a life full of pain and sorrow?
ILL. Man and woman starting of Church in Indianaplois, wife was murdered in front of their two year old daughter…how do we explain God’s goodness?
God created everything Good. When He created this world there was no bad, no evil no pain, no suffering or sorrow, man is the one who brought sin into the world.
How view of God’s goodness should be viewed in the realm of eternal life
-Paul describes the heathen godless man
:-Paul turns His attention to the good moral man that will agree with God, that will quickly judge and condemn the heathen.
We are all guilty before God we all deserve God’s judgement, and His wrath, but God is Good and in His goodness He has forgiven us, He has bleed and died for us, and through HIS GOODNESS we have eternal life.
-Paul turns his attention to the moral religious man, the who condemn and agree with God
We are all guilty before God we all deserve God’s judgement, and His wrath, but God is Good and in His goodness He has forgiven us, He has bleed and died for us, and through HIS GOODNESS we have eternal life.
