INTRODUCTION:

The King has provided His knights with everything that is needed to win the war:

C. Instructions on how to fight the war-Ephesians 6:18-20 (The ability to win the war)
2. gives three instructions to the knight of God.

B. Be watchful for all the saints.

BODY:
1. BE WATCHFUL FOR ALL THE SAINTS.
A. This is the watchfulness that Jesus wanted His disciples to have.
Matt 26.

What was Jesus asking His disciples to do?
A. He wanted them to pray with Him.
B. How is praying being watchful?
1.
In prayer, we watch out for ourselves.
A. Jesus was praying so earnestly His sweat was like drops of blood.
Matt 26.
A. Prayer can keep us from entering into temptation.
Ephesians 6:18-
1. Paul knew he needed the prayers of the saints, because of how easy it is to fall into the temptation of not being bold to speak the Gospel.
A. How many of us so easily fall into this snare of the devil?
B. Instead of having to endure temptation, wouldn’t it be nice to not even be tempted to do evil?
2. Temptation is the snare of the devil.
3. The Bible offers the solution, once you have been led to temptation, to keep you from ultimately sinning.
A. Being tempted is not sin, because our Savior was tempted.
B. Being caught by the snare is sin; then we are drawn away by our own desires and enticed.
C. The Bible also offers the solution, if you have fallen into the snare and been caught by it.
James 1.14
2 Timothy 2.22-
4. The Bible also offers the solution to keep you from being led to temptation, to ultimately keep you from being tempted.
A. Prayer gives one wisdom.
1. Wisdom is knowing how to use knowledge.
2 Timothy 2.25
2. Wisdom will keep you from walking into places where you will be tempted.

3. Paul was watching out for all the saints, because he understood that wisdom in these things would keep them away from temptation that could lead to sin.
Phil 1.3-
A. Paul wanted the saints at the church of Philippi to have:
Knowledge, because without knowledge, one cannot have wisdom.
2. Then discernment, which is wisdom, so that they may approve the things that are excellent.
CONCLUSION:
1. Are you watchful for yourself?
A. Do you pray that God will lead you out of the things which tempt you to sin?
B. Then, do you avoid those things or do you go running headfirst into temptation?

A. Do you pray for the wisdom of the saints?

B. If you know of individual weaknesses of the saints, do you pray for them to have wisdom to overcome that snare?
