Sermon

Matthew 13:24–30 NIV
Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared. “The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’ “ ‘An enemy did this,’ he replied. “The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’ “ ‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’ ”
Note:
Jesus is the one who sowed the good seed. The field is the world.
Zizanium - are black and harbor a fungus that is poisonous.
Weeds are the sons of the evil one and the enemy who sows them is the devil
Wheat are the sons of God, good sons. Heirs of eternal life.
the sons of God ad Satan are working side by side. They work at the same jobs, they have the same custom, they seek the same political goals. And yet they are entirely different. True Christians are wheat and produce fruit for eternal life. unbelievers are weeds and produce poisonous fruit.
Can we pull them out?
Luke 9:52–55 NIV
And he sent messengers on ahead, who went into a Samaritan village to get things ready for him; but the people there did not welcome him, because he was heading for Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do you want us to call fire down from heaven to destroy them?” But Jesus turned and rebuked them.
To produce fruit for the Savior, have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them
Ephesians 5:11 NIV
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
Isaiah 61:3 NIV
and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.
Why are there hypocrites in the church?
Why are there unbelievers in the world?
The relationship Jesus is making has to do with the relationship between believers and unbelievers int he world.
