RECONCILIATION THE NEXT STEP

Untitled Notes
RECONCILIATION THE NEXT SETP
(KJV 1900)
2 Corinthians 5:16–20 KJV 1900
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. 17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; 19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
16 Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

() does not mean that reconciliation as the divine exchange, or the divine changing of a hostile situation, is an incomplete and ongoing work to which we can add or in which we can share. Nevertheless, at the personal level, where it involves the changing of sinners into believers through God’s word and Spirit, reconciliation does still continue as a divine ministry—the ministry of the Holy Spirit—in which believers themselves both can and should participate.
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
believers work not only for reconciliation in interpersonal relations, but they also bear responsibility as subsidiary “reconcilers”—through the ministry of the gospel—in the divine-human relationship.
20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.
God Himself gives to those who receive His work the ambassadorial privilege (v 20) of representing Him as He appeals everywhere to sinners to enter into His reconciliation

He calls for our acceptance of reconciliation. Hence the person is changed as well as the situation, and a personal relationship is again established. Since we are thus made active in reconciliation we can now initiate reconciliation in our relations with others, either seeking forgiveness or extending it.
