The Power of a Good Story.
Anybody ever saw a good preview or heard from a friend a good glimpse into a story that peaked your interest?
That is a power and a tool that is used to generate money for authors and directors for simply telling a good story.
The Bible is the number one selling story of all time for hundreds of years around the world.
Why?
Because the Bible is full of good stories.
Stories that are etched into the fabric of our minds and sayings have derived from them.
From the beginning of the first page of the Bible which says in Genesis that “God created” is a Great story and insight into what movies try to duplicate with special effects.
But God did it truly.
The power of a Good story can tap into your emotions and make you happy or sad.
I cry in moments of death or romance.
Or when a family is reunited.
Stories have the ability to teach lessons and give warnings and wisdom.
How interesting it is then that God choose in HIs infinite wisdom to use the Good Story or Good News called the Gospel to cause men and women to believe in God.
Lets look at a story in the Bible from the gospel or the story of John.
Turn to the book of and class
Within this eye witness occurance of John he like a director zooms into the life of a samaritan women at the well.
It would start of like in Disney film directing mode or DIsney Xd once upon a time thier was a Samaritan woman.
BUt then she met Jesus…and everything changed!!! changed changed…I want you to echo with me!

The Samaritan woman in this story goes to the well around noon, even though in this culture the women would often visit the well during the morning or evening to avoid the heat.
Yet, avoiding the crowds must have been a higher priority than the heat for this woman.
Soon, we find out about her many husbands from Jesus.
Surely this has led to embarrassment and shame—making her feel like an outcast.
After Jesus offers the woman in this story the water that will satisfy, He switches the subject to her many husbands.
He’s pointing out the area in her life she’s trying to fit into that third blank in the story structure.
“And she got a husband and everything changed.”
But it didn’t work.
It never satisfied.
The only thing that comes into our story and changes everything is Jesus.
Not a relationship.
Not a good job.
Not everyone liking us.
When the woman says in verse39,“He told me everything I ever did,”she’s only stating half of what’s so remarkable.
He knew everything she had ever done, and yet He still wanted to know her and speak to her.
For a woman acting like an outcast, this is incredible.
The people of the town say,“It is no longer because of what you said that we believe.”
Or you could say, “It is no longer because of the story you told.”
And if it is “no longer because of” then that means at one point it was because of her story that they wanted to meet Jesus.
Think of a music artist you listen to or TV show you like.
How did you find out about it?
Usually it starts with a friend who can’t shut up about it.
They tell you the story of how they came to it, and it’s gets you interested enough to listen or try it yourself.
Think of a band you listen to orTV show you ?

I want to show you an example of telling your story and inviting someone to hear this great news of Jesus.
