LOOKING AROUND

TEXT JOHN 4:34-38

INTRODUCTION: As a tourist we look around to see what exciting we can find. When the Church looks around we should interpret with the Eyes and Mind of Christ.

1) TO THE SEVENTY CHRIST SAID THE HARVEST IS PLENTIFUL, BUT THE LABORS ARE FEW.

Luke 10:1 (KJV)   "After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come."

Luke 10:2 (KJV)   "Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest."

2) THE RELATION OF THE COMMUNITY OF BELIEVERS TO COMMUNITY CAN BE EXPRESSED AS...

a) Witness - what God has done for us.

b) Ambassadors - speaking on behalf of God.

c) Salt of the Earth - Matt 5:13 (KJV)   "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men." Church and it'                    testimony.

d) Light of the world - if you have Christ you will never         live in darkness. John 8:12 (KJV)   "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

e) NEW TESTAMENT Ministers

2 Cor 3:2 (KJV)   "Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men:"

2 Cor 3:3 (KJV)   "Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshly tables of the heart."

i) A Mission for everyone.

ii) Are we looking around for and opp.

INCLOSING: What do you see when you look around?
