Where Are You Lord (9)
Where Are You Lord? - Ps 27:9
+ Two brothers were extremely mischievous and their parents were at their wits' end. So they asked their pastor to talk with the boys.
> The pastor sat the younger one down first. He wanted him to think about God, so he started the conversation by asking, "Where is God?" The boy didn't respond, so he repeated the question in a stern tone. Again he gave no answer. Frustrated, the pastor shook his finger in the boy's face and shouted, "Where is God?!"
> The boy bolted from the room, ran home, and hid in his closet. His brother followed him and asked, "What happened?" The younger boy replied, "We're in big trouble now. God is missing, and they think we did it!"

+ II. REACTIONS - Ps 27:9
> 1. Acknowledge the Pain.
Hide not thy face far from me
- HIDE here is (sawˊthar to conceal )
- He does not minimize your pain.
- The Lord is not in denial; neither does He
expect you to be.
- God cares. He has not abandoned you.
- He is right beside you and has been there
all along.
- He hears your sobs and He sees your tears
> 2. Let God Work.
Put not thy servant away in anger
- A cry for help
- Don't attempt to advise God as to what is
best for you.
- God will make a way for you.
- Remember that God's way is not your way.
- Trust God to do His maintaining,
providing, healing, sustaining, and guiding.
- Lay aside your human expectations so that
you can see God's answers.
- Your only hope lies in the Lord.
> 3. Make Choices.
Thou hast been my help
- Times past he was helped
- So why not again
- You have more control over the situation
than you might imagine.
- While you do not have the choice to turn
back the clock and restore things to
their original order, you do have the choice of going under or going up.
- It is attitude
- .v 6 Speaking in future tense “SHALL”
- Therefore I will offer Joy & Song
- Every situation, every pain, can go one of
two ways; it can depress or motivate.
- It's up to you.
- When you encounter tragedy you can
spend your remaining days saturated in grief - blaming God, blaming others, and blaming yourself - or, learn from the hurt.
- What you learn of pain will find purpose in
helping others who hurt.
> 4. Accept God's Offer.
Leave me not, neither forsake me
- Mt. 28:20 Jesus last words to us was a
promise
....... lo, I am with you alway, even unto the
end of the world. Amen.
- He was focused on HIM not his own plans
- Anticipate that He will come through for
you.
> 5. Let the Healing Begin.
O God of my salvation
- This is the only verse that does not use
LORD (the self existing one)
- God (Elohim) is the first name of God in
the Bible
- It is used for creation (Creator) (Strong
One)
- This is what he does for us through Jesus
our savior
- There is confidence here
- It was looking in surrendered faith to
Christ
- God is neither handicapped nor weary in
the midst of your pain.
- Nor is He confused or baffled.
- His strength will deliver you - not barely,
but mightily
- Things will never be the way they were.
- After tragedy has struck you are severely
wounded.
- Things will be better, or they will be
worse; they will not be restored to how they were.
- The good news is that you can carry on as
a wounded survivor and face the days ahead with the hope of recovery.
- The very first question in scripture is a
searching question – Gen 3:9
- “Where art thou?”
