For better or worse the child is shaped by the father.
Pray
Oh LORD, Your word says:
4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
This is a prescription for us as parents and even more specifically to us as fathers to teach our children diligently. Heavenly Father please speak specifically to dads today. Please give us wisdom and discernment though Your word today. As dads we are in such great need of your Spirit to help us do the job of raising our children in the fear and understanding of the Lord Your word commands. As we look at the text today please help us apply it to our lives in this great task You have called us to.

Text
34 When Esau was forty years old, he took Judith the daughter of Beeri the Hittite to be his wife, and Basemath the daughter of Elon the Hittite, 35 and they made life bitter for Isaac and Rebekah.
1 When Isaac was old and his eyes were dim so that he could not see, he called Esau his older son and said to him, “My son”; and he answered, “Here I am.” 2 He said, “Behold, I am old; I do not know the day of my death. 3 Now then, take your weapons, your quiver and your bow, and go out to the field and hunt game for me, 4 and prepare for me delicious food, such as I love, and bring it to me so that I may eat, that my soul may bless you before I die.”
What we have been given must be communicated.
Disobedience must be dealt with… now!
Focus on the heart and not the surface issue.
Deal with it now, do not wait.
