Why did Moses give this law to God’s people?

because it was given to Him in authority of God to deliver to God’s people

Why did God want His people to have the Law?

because He was making a way for His people to be right with Him...

Christ fulfilled the Law

Matthew 5:17–20 ESV

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you, unless your righteousness exceeds that of the scribes and Pharisees, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.

That’s when He gave us the Law of Love

Love God with all heart mind soul & strength

Love Neighbor as yourself

So when Jesus came everything has changed:

1. The blood sacrifices ceased because Christ fulfilled all that they were pointing toward. He was the final, unrepeatable sacrifice for sins.

2. The priesthood that stood between worshiper and God has ceased.

3. The physical temple has ceased to be the geographic center of worship. Now, Christ himself is the center of worship. He is the “place,” the “tent,” and the “temple” where we meet God. Therefore, Christianity has no geographic center, no Jerusalem. , ,(Jesus, woman @ well)

4. The food laws that set Israel apart from the nations have been fulfilled and ended in Christ. , (Jesus declared all food clean)

5. The establishment of civil law on the basis of an ethnically rooted people, who are ruled directly by God, has ceased. The people of God are no longer a unified political body or an ethnic group or a nation-state, but are exiles and sojourners among all ethnic groups and all states.

Doctor is like God

Christians are like nurses

Lost people are the patients/sick people

Matthew 9:12 ESV

But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick.

But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

The doctor spoke to Moses (Nurse) about how to heal the sinners (sick)

Moses administered the Law upon the authority of the great doctor

parts of the Law were like a test to help find out what was wrong

parts of the Law were for healing to help the sinner find forgiveness

As followers of Christ we are on duty and responsible for the lost people that God has placed around us… under our care

Ephesians 4:11–16 ESV

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

He first would ask us to help them evaluate their condition and need for treatment (Jesus)

Proverbs 28:13 ESV

Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.

Then they administer the proper treatment directed by the doctor

Ephesians 5:15

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

we have so many opportunities at our disposal

we can take joy to the workplace

or bitterness, grouchy, hateful

we can speak truth to sinfulness in love

we can buckle to pressure and pretend that sinfulness is okay in the eyes of God

equally as bad: we can act like we are holy-er that thou and be arrogant to those who sin

we can extend God’s grace, mercy & forgiveness when someone wrongs us

we can act proud and entitled

We can be generous to others in need

or stingy with the blessings that God has given us

The doctor called and placed an order for love to this sick world

NOT JUST FOR OUR OWN OBEDIENCE

but because others need to hear & know of the antidote for their deathly illness called sin that is only found in the love of Christ

when we give the world anything but God’s love then it’s like giving them something that they are allergic to

it has an adverse affect

What will you administer to the lost around you?

Listen to the doctor and give them Jesus covered in truth and love
