Luke 19:28-48
Question: What did Jesus mean by the phrase, “time of visitation”?
I. The time of visitation means the arrival of the King (vs. 35)
A. Jesus is not only Savior but King
B. Zechariah 9:9 (NKJV) “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey.”
II. The time of visitation means a time of decision (vs. 36-40)
A. Will we receive Him?
B. Will we reject Him?
C. Where would we be standing in the crowd if it were today?
III. The time of visitation means we are at the crossroad of our future (vs. 41-44)
A. We are at the crossroad of revival or destruction
B. The first sign that God is about to visit is that He awakens a consciousness of our need for revival and the urgency to get ready.
IV. The time of visitation means restoring God’s kingdom order (vs. 45-48)
A. Presence
B. Purity
C. Prayer
D. Power
E. Praise
F. Principles
V. The time of visitation means we must be prepared for our King’s arrival
A. Luke 3:4-6 (NKJV) “Prepare the way of the Lord; make His paths straight. Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill brought low; the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth; and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.”
B. Those who responded to John the Baptist’s message of preparation were ready to receive Jesus when He came. Those who did not receive the message of repentance could not receive Christ or enter His kingdom.
VI. A Time of Evaluation
A. Has God begun to awaken your heart to your need for salvation and revival?
B. Are you ready?
C. What shall we do? Luke 3:4-6 (see above)
