Victory In Jesus
Victory In Jesus
Pastor E. Keith Hassell
Foundation Scripture: Colossians 2:13-15
I. Jesus Christ died and rose again to give us VICTORY!
A. Over our sin
1. “He has forgiven you all of your trespasses.”
B. Over our guilt
1. “Having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.”
C. Over Satan
1. “Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”
II. Because of Jesus, we can walk in VICTORY over our PAST!
A. Past sins we have committed (divorce, sexual sins, rebellion, perversion, stealing, drugs, alcohol, lying, cheating, abortion, murder, neglect of our loved ones)
B. Past sins committed against us (divorce, physical abuse, verbal abuse, sexual abuse, rape, neglect, mistreatment, theft, physical harm or damage caused by another, death of a loved one caused by another in an accident, etc.)
C. Past disappointments, failures, and circumstances
D. There is forgiveness and healing at the CROSS
III. Because of Jesus, we can walk in VICTORY over our FUTURE!
A. Over DEATH because Jesus removed its sting (sin)
B. Over the GRAVE because the grave cannot hold us
C. Over HELL because our penalty has been paid in full
D. Over FEAR because our future is in God’s hands
E. There is HOPE and SECURITY because of the RESURRECTION
IV. Because of Jesus we can walk in VICTORY in the PRESENT!
A. Over SIN because “if we will confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins” (I John 1:9)
B. Over the SIN NATURE because “our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin.”
C. Over SICKNESS and DISEASE because “by His stripes you were healed.” (I Peter 2:25)
D. Over DEMONS because Jesus said, “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)
E. Over POVERTY because “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that through He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich.” (2 Corinthians 8:9)
1. At times we may be broke but in Jesus we are not poor
F. Over OPPRESSION because “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil.” (Acts 10:38)
G. Over DEPRESSION because Jesus said “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be made full.” (John 15:11)
H. Over ADVERSITY because Jesus said “In this world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
I. Over PERSECUTION because it is written “’For Your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
J. Over CONDEMNATION because it is written, “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” (Romans 8:34)
K. Over LONELINESS and INSECURITY because Jesus said, “Lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20) and in Hebrews 13:5 “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
L. Over FEAR and TIMIDITY because “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy 1:7)
M. Over the FEAR OF DEATH because to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. (2 Corinthians 5:8)
N. Over this WORLD because “whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world---our faith.” (I John 5:4)
