You Are What You Worship
You Are What You Worship
Pastor Keith Hassell
Foundation Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:18 NKJV “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
I. We are changed into what we behold. We will become what we worship.
A. Psalm 115:4-8 People who worship idols will be like them
II. The process of change
A. We are not changed (internally) by
1. The church we attend
2. The songs we sing
3. Reading the Bible
4. Praying: “Prayer changes things” but prayer does not necessarily change us
5. Doing the right things (but wanting to do the wrong things)
B. We are changed to the degree we behold Him
1. We are saved as we behold Him as Savior
2. We are healed as we behold Him as Healer
3. We are delivered as we behold Him as Deliverer
4. We are empowered as we behold Him as Baptizer
C. The image you have of God will determine the level of change in the image of Christ inside of you
1. 1 John 3:2 “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is REVEALED, we shall be like Him, for WE SHALL SEE HIM AS HE IS.”
