Review of Part 1:
Review of Part 1:
The focus of part 1, was:
The ministry of the Holy spirit to believers as contained in the meaning of his name: Paracletos - we discovered there were seven of them:
26 But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.
And, our main take home from that introduction was that “ he is the kind of helper that makes the impossibilities possible.
Review of part 2:
Review of part 2:
The focus of part 2, was:
The ministry of the holy spirit to believers as contained in the symbols that the scripture used to describe him.
Those symbols are descriptive placeholders, the more we understand their spiritual meanings the clearer the ministry of the Holy Spirit to us. i mentioned about six symbols:
dove
oil
fire
wind
seal
Rivers of the Living water
Note: all these messages are being recorded for your benefit, so that you will listen to them over and over again… please go back and listen to them.
Today: The ministry of the Holy Spirit Part 3
Today: The ministry of the Holy Spirit Part 3
There is going to be a slight shift from what we have been learning about the ministry of the Holy Spirit. so far, we have been looking at what the Holy Spirit will do for you. but today we will focus on what the Holy Spirit will do through you.
Text: luke 4:18-22; isa 61:1-5
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord. 20 And he closed the book, and he gave it again to the minister, and sat down. And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. 22 And all bare him witness, and wondered at the gracious words which proceeded out of his mouth. And they said, Is not this Joseph’s son?
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. 32 And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power.
Jesus was quoting from the prophecy of Isaiah...
1 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; Because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to them that are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all that mourn; 3 To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, To give unto them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they might be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified. 4 And they shall build the old wastes, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the waste cities, The desolations of many generations. 5 And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, And the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.

Let me say this: This scripture or prophecy has its primary application to the anointed messiah, who is called Christ. we know this because of the statement of Jesus in
21 And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.
but, now that we have become partaker with him of the same spirit, this scripture now have a broader application to the church of the living God - beginning from the day of Pentecost, it now carries the ministry of the Holy Spirit through every true disciple of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is simply the picture of what the Holy Spirit is meant to accomplish through you and I.
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
luke 4:
before I give you the ten statements, I want to mention the opening of
This passage opened by a profound statement: “the Spirit of the Lord is upon me” . in the bible, whenever the spirit of the Lord came upon someone, it simply means the person is under the influence of the Holy Spirit to accomplish, or do things that they could not have done by themselves.
an example of Elijah: who out ran a man ridding a horse
46 And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.
1 king 18
b. Saul prophecy
6 And the Spirit of the Lord will come upon thee, and thou shalt prophesy with them, and shalt be turned into another man.
10 And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.
c. Samson and the lion
5 Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. 6 And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done.
5 And she dwelt under the palm tree of Deborah between Ramah and Beth-el in mount Ephraim: and the children of Israel came up to her for judgment. 6 And she sent and called Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the Lord God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of Naphtali and of the children of Zebulun?
So, when the spirit of the Lord come upon you, among other things, HE WILL DO SOME SUPERNATURAL THINGS THROUGH YOU. which has nothing to do with your ability or inability… it will all be subject to him and not to you.
judges 4:5-6
2. Ten things that the Holy Spirit will do through you: let me say this in another way “ ten channels of ministry that the Holy Spirit will open through you” let us read our scripture again:
Isa 61:
He will anoint you to preach the good tidings to the meek
the apostles became empowered to preach, just one message saved 3000 souls:
To bind up the brokenhearted: Peter brought dorcas to life
39 Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. 40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. 41 And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up, and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive.
