Evangelism & Revival
Evanglism & Revival
Pastor Keith Hassell
Foundation Scripture: Mark 16:15-20
I. Revival is no accident
A. They went out
B. They preached everywhere
C. The Lord was working with them
D. The Lord confirmed the word through the accompanying signs
E. Reinhard Bonnke: “Revival come from God, yes, but when? When we repent of our plain disobedience and return to the basic task---Evanglism. Every single church activity should relate to turning the world back to God. Why are we waiting? ‘Rescue the perishing’ or we’ll need rescuing ourselves.”
F. Our mission is to win souls and make disciples.
II. An unpreached Gospel is no gospel at all
A. Jesus told us to preach the gospel
B. 3000 were saved on the Day of Pentecost because Peter preached
C. Smith Wigglesworth: “The Acts of the Apostles was written because the Apostles acted!”
D. I Corinthians 1:21 “For since in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.”
E. Romans 10:14-15 “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!’”
III. What is the Gospel? (“Good News”)
A. Romans 1:16 “It is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.”
B. Salvation includes salvation, healing, deliverance, and prosperity.
C. Luke 4:18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”
IV. The necessity of the Gospel
A. Reinhard Bonnke: “Today, witchcraft, occultism, and evil make the Gospel as vital as a gun in a snake pit.”
B. The Gospel is the cure for broken lives
C. The Gospel is the cure for broken homes
D. The Gospel is the cure for diseased churches
E. The Gospel is the cure for sin sick societies
F. The Gospel is the cure for a troubled nation
G. The Gospel is the solution for peace among the nations
V. The necessity of the Church
A. Jesus gave a commission to His church to go in His name. You and I are the church.
B. Reinhard Bonnke: “The church is a lifeboat, not a pleasure boat. Entertainers are not needed or wanted. From the captain to the cook, all hands are needed on deck for soul saving. The church that does not seek the lost is ‘lost’ itself.”
C. Being saved is not just about us going to heaven. It is about God using us to help someone else get to heaven.
D. Selfishness sacrifices souls. Christ did not come just to save us but to recruit us to seek and save other.
1. Once we are pulled from the waters of sin, we must turn around and begin to pull out others also.
2. We must shift from being a victim to a volunteer.
E. Rivalries ruin revival. Christ did not come to give us a position or a ministry, He came to seek and save the lost.
VI. Accepting the mandate
A. Reinhard Bonnke: “We are not called to go into battle with the outcome yet to be decided. The battle was won at Calvary. Jesus commanded the disciples; ‘Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers’ (Matthew 9:38), and added, ‘Go!’ He still says it. It is a transferred mandate.”
B. We are to go
C. We are to preach the Gospel
D. We are to witness to the lost
E. We are to invite people to God’s house
F. We are to make disciples
