Giving Thanks To God For Others

Pastor E. Keith Hassell

1 Thessalonians 1:2-4 (NKJV) We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, 3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, 4 knowing, beloved brethren, your election by God.”

I.              How should we give thanks for people?

A.               We should give thanks to God for others in our prayers

B.                It should give thanks to God for the people He has placed in our lives

C.               Thanksgiving is the proper response to God’s grace or gift of people

II.           Why should we give thanks for people?

A.               Because of their work of faith

1.          Work of faith involves repentance and good works as the result of faith

2.          1 Thessalonians 1:9

B.                Because of their labor of love

1.          Work vs. Labor

2.          Labor is toil in the work as a result of great adversity

C.               Because of their patience of hope in the Lord Jesus Christ

1.          The victory is already ours. Patience stays steady until the Lord returns)

III.        When should we give thanks?

A.               Always

B.                When we pray

C.               In remembrance
