God’s Method of Multiplication

Pastor Keith Hassell

Foundation Scripture:       Genesis 1:1-28

Seven Stages of Multiplication in Creation

I.          Desperation:                        Genesis 1:2  “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.  And the Spirit of the Lord was hovering over the face of the waters.”

II.        Revelation:   Genesis 1:3  “Then God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light.”

            A.        The vision of multiplication is something you have to SEE.

B.        2 Corinthians 4:6  “For it is the God who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”

C.        We have been blinded by religion, tradition, worldly thinking, etc.

D.        If we are going to be fruitful and multiply, we have to see the vision out of the front windshield (faith) not through the side window (present circumstances) or the rear view mirror (the past).

III.       Separation:

A.        Genesis 1:4  God separated the light from the darkness

B.        Genesis 1:6    God separated the waters above from the waters beneath

C.        Genesis 1:9  God separated the waters from the dry land

D.        When God works in us, He always brings us into areas of separation.

E.         Without change and separation, there will be no fruitfulness in your life.

F.         Abraham had to separate from Lot.  Once the separation occurred, immediately God began to work on his vision. (Genesis 13:14-17)

G.        There must come a realignment of our life to our convictions.

H.        People will never see or run with the vision until they begin to be separated and delivered from problem areas of their life.

IV.       Reproduction:         Genesis 1:11  “Then God said, ‘Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth’; and it was so.”

A.        Notice that the first three steps---desperation, revelation, and separation were preparation for receiving the seed.

B.        Once the soil is prepared, the seed will take care of itself.

V.        Elevation:                 Genesis 1:16  “Then God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night;  He made the stars also.”

A.        God elevates and establishes authorities to govern our lives.  They are a part of His creation order.

B.        I Corinthians 12:28  God SET IN THE CHURCH first apostles, secondly prophets, and thirdly teachers.

C.        It is the setting in of authority in our lives that brings growth.

D.        It’s not enough to train a person and then just send them out to “Do their own thing.”  This is a local church.  We must have authority in the church.

E.         Americans don’t like authority.  We don’t like people even suggesting what we should do, much less telling us what we should do.

F.         In the American church all we want presented to us is options.  The pastor is simply the facilitator of these options so that we can have fun.  This is not New Testament.  The church is not a social club.  The church is to operate under the authority of Almighty God.

VI.       Multiplication:       Genesis 1:28  “Then God blessed them, and God said to the, ‘Be fruitful and multiply.’”

A.        Notice that he did not say, “Bear fruit.”  He said, “Be fruitful and multiply.”  God is going to carry out His work through fruitful people.

B.        John 15:1-2  “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.  Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.”

C.        John 15:8  “By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”

D.        John 15:16  “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain.”

E.         The church today has elevated people because they like them or because they are friends or relatives.  But never elevate a person unless they are fruitful.

F.         How are we fruitful?  By winning souls and making disciples.

VII.     Dominion:    Genesis 1:28  “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

A.        Cesar Castillanos (ICM, Bogota, Columbia)  “When you begin to multiply you begin to receive dominion.”

B.        How do we extend Christ’s dominion in the earth?  One soul at a time.

Invitation for Unbelievers

1.         Have you come to the point of desperation?

2.         Have you begun to receive the revelation of Jesus Christ?

3.         Will you allow Christ to separate the light from the darkness in your life?

4.         If so, then you are ready to receive the engrafted word of God into your heart that is able to save your soul.

Invitation for Believers

1.         Are you submitted to God’s governing authorities in your life?

2.         Are you fruitful and multiplying?

3.         Are you expanding Christ’s dominion in life one soul at a time?
