He Will Come To Us

Foundation Scriptures: Hosea 5:13-6:3; Isaiah 40:3-5
I. It is time for us to return to the Lord: “Come let us return to the Lord.”
A. To return means to acknowledge that we have left Him
B. We have neglected His presence in prayer
C. We have neglected to obey His commandments
D. We have neglected to heed His voice
E. We have neglected His House
F. We have neglected His Commission
II. Time to acknowledge our sin
A. God has allowed our sin to make us sick
B. God has torn (maimed) us so that we cannot get the help we need elsewhere
C. He will wait until we acknowledge the sin that has caused our sickness
D. He will wait until, out of our affliction, we seek His face
E. God is our Healer: “He has torn, but He will heal us.”
F. God is our Restorer: “He has stricken, but He will bind us up.”
G. God is our Reviver: “After two days He will revive us.”
H. God is our Resurrection: “On the third day He will raise us up, that we might live in His sight.”
III. Time to Seek the Lord
A. Intimacy through worship and prayer: “Let us know.”
B. Conforming to His image: “Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord.”
C. Preparing the way for His coming: “His going forth is established as the morning.” (i.e. “Prepare the way and He will come!” Isaiah 40:3-5)
1. Make straight a highway for our God (Isaiah 35:8 The highway of holiness)
a. Insufficiency: “Every valley shall be exalted.”
b. Pride: “Every mountain and hill brought low”
c. Unrighteousness: “The crooked places shall be made straight”
d. Stumbling Blocks (idols): “The rough places smooth”
IV. He will come to us
A. He will come to us like the rain
1. Former rain (Seed time)
2. Latter rain (Harvest)
B. Joel 2:23-24 “And He will cause the rain to come down for you---the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month. The threshing floors shall be full of wheat, and the vats shall overflow with new wine and oil.”
C. The glory of the Lord shall be revealed (Manifested tangible Presence)
D. All flesh shall see it together (There will not be any where to hide from its knowledge for God said in Habakkuk 2:14, “For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”
V. Response
A. He will come to us if
1. We acknowledge our sin and repent
2. We begin to seek His face
3. We begin to prepare the way
B. When He comes He will
1. Heal us of our sickness
2. Restore that which has been broken or torn
3. Revive us with His Spirit
4. Resurrect us up to do His will
