Choir presentation 2017
Thank the church and pray
Present the Harvest card-
For over 50 years Teen Challenge has had a powerful impact on the lives of people who have struggled with life controlling issues. The wake of the impact reaches beyond Southern California’s 10 adult centers and new adolescent center to over 200 centers in the U.S. and 1,200 centers worldwide. It is incredible to see how God started this with one man’s obedience to listen to God’s call and to go and share the Gospel to a people who desperately needed Jesus! You can have the book “The Cross and the switch blade” by requesting it on the card presented to you up front and by our students.
Also on the card is “Parent’s guide to drug awareness” and a devotion from our Leader Pastor Ron Brown.
Every Monday the men gather together to stand in the gap for prayer needs and requests. You can fill out the area below the card and we will pray for you.
Teen Challenge of Southern California provides youth, adults and families an effective and comprehensive Christian faith-based solution to life-controlling problems such as drug and alcohol addiction. All this is possible by the Holy Spirit sustaining this work, and the prayer of our supporters and their generous giving. Because of them Teen Challenge is able to offer this help free of charge. Please prayerfully consider being a Harvest Partner to join Teen Challenge in our mission to transform addicts to men and women of God!
Corporate culture statement – Southern California Teen Challenge is a missional movement that unashamedly follows Jesus Christ embraces servant leadership and shares in transforming grace.
The men you will now see are evidence of God’s love and grace. There is no greater joy than to see hearts turned to God, hopeful futures and restoration in families. These men have been rescued from darkness, saved by grace and have experienced Christ’s forgiveness! Will you please welcome the NEW CREATION CHOIR!
Choir comes up to sing praise and share testimony. 20-30 minutes

MESSAGE

Text:  Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done. Sing to him, sing praises to him; tell of all his wondrous works! 3  Glory in his holy name; let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice! 4  Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually! 5  Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered, 6  O offspring of Abraham, his servant, children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
Sing to him, sing praises to him;
tell of all his wondrous works!
Glory in his holy name;
let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice!
Seek the Lord and his strength;
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
seek his presence continually!
Remember the wondrous works that he has done,
his miracles, and the judgments he uttered,
Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; For His lovingkindness is everlasting.
O offspring of Abraham, his servant,
children of Jacob, his chosen ones!
This Psalm is a psalm of remembrance, thanksgiving and worship for God’s great works.
This psalm was written by David when the Ark of the Covenant was brought back to Jerusalem.
David was so glad he promoted a man named Asaph to lead worship daily, giving sacrifices to God and singing His praise.
The Ark represented the presence of God. They remembered His faithfulness to His promise to deliver them from Egypt and guide them through the wilderness to the promise land. So daily the people worshiped
The meaning of the New Testament Greek word most often translated “worship” (proskuneo) is “to fall down before” or “bow down before.” Worship is a state (an attitude) of spirit.
Since it’s an internal, individual action, it could/should be done most of the time (or all the time) in our lives, regardless of place or situation (). Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Therefore, Christians worship all the time, seven days a week. When Christians formally gather together in worship, still the emphasis should be on individually worshiping the Lord.
Even in a congregation, participants need to be aware that they are worshiping God fully on an individual basis.
The nature of Christian worship is from the inside out and has two equally important parts.
We must worship “in spirit and in truth” ().
Worshiping in the spirit has nothing to do with our physical posture.
It has to do with our innermost being and requires several things.
First, we must be born again. Without the Holy Spirit residing within us, we cannot respond to God in worship because we do not know Him.
“No one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God” (). The Holy Spirit within us is the one who energizes worship because He is in essence glorifying Himself, and all true worship glorifies God.
Paul exhorts us to “present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind” (, ).
Only when our minds are changed from being centered on worldly things to being centered on God can we worship in spirit.
Distractions of many kinds can flood our minds as we try to praise and glorify God, hindering our true worship.

Giving thanks and praise to the Lord.

Giving thanks and praise to the Lord.

Giving thanks and praise to the Lord.

This Psalm calls the Israelites to worship, Praise and Obey God.
This Psalm should also bring out in us to pursue a deeper relationship with Him!
This psalm should also inspire immense gratitude for all of the Lords care and Provision, joy and peace.
Once we realize just how much we should be thankful for, it is our duty to tell others. And in that, God is Praised and Glorified!
In that day you will say: “Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.
Praise the LORD.Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Praise the LORD.Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
That’s why these men are here today.. To tell their story of hope. Then maybe someone can learn from their experience and give influence that God is real and changing lives!

says, “But thanks be to God he gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ”.
The proper response to God’s Kindness is Thankfulness. says “Always giving thanks to God the father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. says, “Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
For all God’s goodness, we as believers should live a life of gratitude.

Proclaim His name

In that day you will say: “Give praise to the LORD, proclaim his name; make known among the nations what he has done, and proclaim that his name is exalted.
The people of God had a heritage with Abraham which they trusted God to be faithful to.
The people of God had a heritage with Abraham which they trusted God to be faithful to.
We continue this by casting our all to a faithful God, depending fully on Him.
The book of Acts has not ended there but continues as the body extends God’s Kingdom sharing his Gospel.
We believe God as he is revealed to us in His attributes such as the Great Shepard, the Great I AM, Adonai, Prince of Peace, Healer, Comforter, teacher, Lover of my soul and our Savior!
A Psalm. O sing to the LORD a new song, For He has done wonderful things, His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him.
To make known to the sons of men Your mighty acts And the glory of the majesty of Your kingdom.
My mouth shall tell of Your righteousness And of Your salvation all day long; For I do not know the sum of them.

Make known among the nations what He has done.

Isn’t it crazy that we can forget ALL God has done?
Think of all trials and grief you have been through, and how by the grace of God you made it!
The most detrimental thing for a Christian to do (as far as getting closer to God) is forgetting all he has done, not just in your life but in the lives around you!
This good news and great works are not to be pushed under the rug. It is the heart of God to tell the lost about him.
On Knowing Christ. You may long to become more like Jesus, though you can’t expect to reach His perfection in this life, but you must not forget that you can certainly try to reflect Him in all you say and do. Here are a few suggestions to help you do so:
Be in a Right Relationship with Him. It is essential that you enjoy a personal relationship with Christ. As your relationship deepens, He will demonstrate His power in your life.
To enter into this relationship, you must allow your will to be broken, your ego to be destroyed. “It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me,” Paul said to his readers in Galatia (). We deliberately must crucify our selfish nature and cultivate His loving nature.
Be Filled with the Holy Spirit . We cannot move forward without His presence in our lives. The Holy Spirit works as the motivating force in our lives to drive us forward. He indwells us and He empowers us. The work of the Holy Spirit cannot happen unless we confess our “sins one to another” Confess your trespasses[a] to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

NIV “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts in under a bed, instead he puts it on stand so that those who come in can see the light”. And
NIV “No one lights a lamp and hides it in a jar or puts in under a bed, instead he puts it on stand so that those who come in can see the light”. And
“ Let your light shine before men that they may see you good deeds and Praise your father who is in Heaven “ Show others your light! Isn’t that what Church was intended for? To assemble, worship, learn from the Holy Scriptures… AND TELL OTHERS! And you can say a whole lot more by your actions…
Our first ministry is our home. To teach our Children the truth and to model Christ in the home. Duet 6:5-7 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.
Conclusion
I want to live a grateful life and take time to reflect and enjoy God’s lovingkindness towards me. I want to take advantage of every opportunity to make known His deeds. I want to know Him
intimately and know His transforming power in my heart. I want my lips to continually offer Him praise!
If you have never known God in this way, today is an invitation to begin this relationship with Him. The bible says for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. The good news is that if you recognize your sin before God, turn from it and put your faith in Jesus’ work on the cross…you will be saved.
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
And now we are free to praise God for this new life!!
Ask for anyone who wants to receive Christ and pray out.
