If There Is No Resurrection

1 Corinthians 15
I. The resurrection is key to the Gospel message
1. Critics and skeptics continually attack the biblical account of the resurrection of Jesus
2. Romans 10:9-10 Salvation is based upon
1. Believing that Jesus died on the Cross for our sins
2. Confessing Jesus as Lord
3. Believing in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead
3. If you can disprove the resurrection, then you can do away with the Gospel
II. If there is no resurrection
1. Jesus is dead (v. 13)
2. Our preaching is in vain (v. 14)
3. Our faith is in vain (v. 14)
4. The apostles were false witnesses (v. 15)
5. We are still in our sins (v. 17)
6. Those who died in Christ have perished (v. 18)
7. We are of all men the most to be pitied (v. 19)
8. “Let us all eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die!” (v. 32)
III. But now Christ is risen from the dead (v. 20)
1. He has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep (v.20-23)
2. He is now reigning until His enemies come under His feet (v. 24-25)
3. He will destroy the last enemy, DEATH (v. 26)
4. He will change us at the last trumpet (v. 50-57)
IV. Therefore (v. 58)
1. Be steadfast in your faith (firm in your faith)
2. Be immovable in your commitment (Unwavering in your commitment)
3. Be fruitful (“always abounding”) in the work of the Lord knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord
V. Response to the Word (Romans 10:6-13)
1. Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins
2. Believe in your heart that Jesus rose from the dead
3. Confess Jesus as Lord of your life
4. Obey Jesus’ command to be baptized
