In a Great House

Pastor Keith Hassell

 

 

Foundation Scripture:   2 Timothy 2:19-22

 

I.       The Father is building GREAT house

1.       “Great” (Greek:  megas) means “big, great, high, large, loud, mighty, strong

2.       “House” (Greek: oikas) means “residence, family abode, home”

II.      He is building His house with mature sons and daughters

          1.       Greek (Western) concept of maturity was based on knowledge

          2.       Hebrew concept of maturity is character

 

III.    The foundation of God’s house is sure

          1.       God knows those who are His sons and daughters

          2.       The true sons and daughters of God will depart from iniquity

IV.     Vessels for honor and for dishonor

1.       “Vessels” (Greek:  skeuos) means “vessel, implement, equipment, apparatus.”  (figuratively it alludes to a wife as contributing to the usefulness of the husband)

2.       “Honor” (Greek:  Teemay) means “honorable, valuable by virtue of price paid)

3.       “Dishonor” (Greek:  Ahteemeeay) means “dishonor, disgrace, shame, vile.”

V.      Becoming a “valuable vessel” in God’s Great House

          1.       Choose to be a vessel unto honor

2.       Purge yourself from things that bring dishonor and shame

3.       He shall be a vessel of honor

4.       He shall be sanctified (holy, set apart)

5.       He shall be useful (profitable for use)

6.       He shall be prepared (made ready)

VI.     Being chosen by God

          1.       For every good work (of God)

VII.   Invitation:  God has a GREAT house

          1.       Are you departing from iniquity?

          2.       Have you chosen to be a vessel unto honor or dishonor?
