f. Teach us how to serve God in worship
Not just attending a service or singing as a congregation,
Worship is an attitude, and also an action
From the most innermost intention to the loudest expression of joy
Worship is a life surrendered to God that glorifies Him, finds joy in glorifying Him by thought, word, deed, song and everything shown in this precious book

1 May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make his face to shine upon us, Selah
2 that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
3 Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!
4 Let the nations be glad and sing for joy,
for you judge the peoples with equity
and guide the nations upon earth. Selah
5 Let the peoples praise you, O God;
let all the peoples praise you!
6 The earth has yielded its increase;
God, our God, shall bless us.
7 God shall bless us;
let all the ends of the earth fear him!

I-Worship is to acknowledge our need in light of God’s supremacy (v.1)
I-Worship is to acknowledge our need in light of God’s supremacy (v.1)
A. Starts with a plea (v.1)
B. Poverty is not just a state of our bank account but the state of our soul,
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
C. The approaching attitude depends on the importance of whom we are addressing
C. Like Nehemiah,
5 And I said, “O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,
Nehemiah
D. The approaching attitude depends on the importance of whom we are addressing
Example of how we relate with a coworker, a boss, and the president of our company
-Example of how we relate with a coworker, a boss, and the president of our company
Nehemiah before the king
5 And I said, “O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,
D. Acknowledging the greatness of God is a privilege that is granted by Him alone, Isaiah, a man of the king’s courts.
5 And I said, “O Lord God of heaven, the great and awesome God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,

D. Acknowledging the greatness of God is a privilege that is granted by Him alone, Isaiah.
1 In the year that King Uzziah died I saw the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up; and the train of his robe filled the temple. 2 Above him stood the seraphim. Each had six wings: with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And one called to another and said:
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts;
the whole earth is full of his glory!”
4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.
Isaiah
5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
E. Being before God’s majesty
E. Being face to face with God’s supremacy is the most humbling experience that changes our attitude to full loving submission
5 And I said: “Woe is me! For I am lost; for I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts!”
F. What about God’s supremacy?
1. God is supreme as Creator and Sustainer over the whole of creation, visible and invisible. This means that He has the Creator’s rights over all the earth.
2. God is supreme because He owns and controls absolutely everything.
3. God is supreme because there is no kingdom nor authority over him, instead, He is the one that rules over all
4. God is supreme because He rules over the will of all men including kings ()
5. God is the most interesting, most powerful, the most knowledgeable and most intelligent Person in the universe.
G. The worshipful attitude confirmed by David himself:
10 Therefore David blessed the Lord in the presence of all the assembly. And David said: “Blessed are you, O Lord, the God of Israel our father, forever and ever. 11 Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the victory and the majesty, for all that is in the heavens and in the earth is yours. Yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and you are exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. In your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. 13 And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.
7 They gave for the service of the house of God 5,000 talents and 10,000 darics of gold, 10,000 talents of silver, 18,000 talents of bronze and 100,000 talents of iron. 8 And whoever had precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of the Lord, in the care of Jehiel the Gershonite. 9 Then the people rejoiced because they had given willingly, for with a whole heart they had offered freely to the Lord. David the king also rejoiced greatly.
So, the writer of , David himself knew who God was. Humility is the human response when experiencing God’s supremacy. A humble attitude appears when face to face with His majesty. When we are in front of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords there is only room for His greatness and our littleness.
II-Worship is desiring that all men may KNOW the way of God and His saving power as we do (v.2)

2 that your way may be known on earth,
your saving power among all nations.
A. Saul of Tarsus: Face to face with the Son of God
B.
3 Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. 4 And falling to the ground, he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?” 5 And he said, “Who are you, Lord?” And he said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. 6 But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.”
B. The desire to share with others
18 And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and he regained his sight. Then he rose and was baptized; 19 and taking food, he was strengthened.
For some days he was with the disciples at Damascus. 20 And immediately he proclaimed Jesus in the synagogues, saying, “He is the Son of God.”
Just as we learned in , the heart that worships, the life surrendered to God will desire and seek for others to know God.
III-Worship is desiring that all nations that know Him, also PRAISE Him (v.3-5)

psalm 67:3-5
A. God is highly interested in the worship of His name
B. Shorter Catechism: “The chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever”
C. Worship is central issue for God like no other
He deserves to be worshipped
He is zealous
He rightfully expects it
Worship rendered to anything other than Him is SIN
The first commandment
3 “You shall have no other gods before me.
D. Missions matter to God, but worship matters more
a. Prevented idolatry by warning men not to marry pagan women
During the times of Moses
During the period of the Judges
During the period of the kings
During the times of Ezra an Nehemiah
E. Worship is God’s driving force for the expansion of His Kingdom (Phillipians 2:10-11)
i. John Piper: "Missions is not the ultimate goal of the church. Worship is. Missions exists because worship doesn't."
ii. One day missions will be over, but the worship of God will never end!
If worship is more important than missions, what can be more important than worship
We have a challenge to go to the nations and preach the Gospel, but let’s not forget, God’s main interest is so that He may be honored and worshipped and then our Evangelism and Missions will glorify Him... Doesn’t He deserve it?
The challenge is
CONCLUSION :
Where is our heart at this point?
Is God satisfied with our worship?
Is our worship originating from a loving relationship with Him?
Why do we serve? Because we like it? Because others expect it? Because we expect it from ourselves or because its part of our worship to Him? (Mary / Martha)
Remember, if God is not glorified, if God is not worshipped, all of our greatest efforts are in vain.
Have lost our first love? The Church at Ephesus
Are we struggling with love for the world?
15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
5. Is there anything or anyone in your life that is occupying a place that only God deserves?
6. According to , human nature manufactures its own gods. We fabricate our own gods and fall into our own idolatry.
25 because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.
7. IDOLATRY is so subtle. We can worship even the good things that we receive from God:
a. Our job or business
b. A loving spouse
c. Our dear children
d. Our entertainment
8. Is there an addiction? Addiction are forms of idolatry because they control us. Is there a bad habit that is controlling you?
God is gracious, and He is loving, and certainly He won’t cast away those that trust Him. A worshipful life before Him will be fruitful for His glory no matter what we do.
