Introduction:
Over the last few weeks, I've spoken on our God-given authority and the Holy Spirit really drove some serious stuff home didn't He?  This week I believe the Lord is going to tie it all for us.  Because it's time to overcome!
Ya see, so many times people, not knowing any better, just live the way they have always lived…  suffering from the outcome of broken lives and wounded souls.  Overwhelmed by the sins of their past and the sins committed against them or by their parents, grandparents and so on.  We could say being ' Stuck like chuck'.
I’ve heard it said so many times… I don’t know why I’m this way or why I act this way or I just can't seem to break free from...  But, the truth is you do not have to be broken anymore! You don’t have to be overcome by those sins that have so easily ensnare you.. instead you can be the overcomer!  Which is the will of God for you!!
Have you ever heard the phrase, or maybe, you’ve heard me say it… “They’re going around the mountain again”
That statement isn't meant to be mean or condescending as it is a metaphor for a person who either doesn’t want to deal with the sin in their lives or doesn’t yet know about it.  Ya see, put in a specific situation people seem to always do the same things over and over again.  it's called having a default response... some easily get angry, so go right to the bottle, some go for a smoke and some to drugs.  It's a vicious cycle, its a mountain.
But today I’m going to show you how to overcome your mountains
The reason behind the default response is.... sin and what does sin bring us according to Romans 6:23?
Romans 6:23 HCSB
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Turn to Mark 11:23
Mark 11:23 HCSB
I assure you: If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him.
Q:  Can you believe today?  Are you ready to be an overcomer?
Listen, The Lord is saying "YOU DON"T HAVE TO GO AROUND THAT MOUNTAIN ANYMORE"
In Christ you are set free to live holy before God - you are not meant t ob e overcame but to overcome!!!  AMEN!!!
Q: WHAT MOUNTAINS ARE YOU FACING TODAY?
POVERTY DISEASES  DEPRESSION  ABANDONMENT  ABUSE  TRAGEDY  WEAKNESSES  REJECTION  BROKEN RELATIONSHIPS  INABILITY  ADDICTION  BAD HABITS  TEMPTATIONS  DISCRIMINATION  FEAR  CONDEMNATION OF PAST FAILURES  DISCOURAGEMENT ANGER
Whatever the mountain it is… Today is YOUR DAY to cast it into the sea!!  AMEN??
Q: Are you with me?
What you need to do is stand up now and face your mountain by faith in the name of Jesus and declare Get behind me, Satan!!
Ya see the Bible tells us in
2 Corinthians 10:5 HCSB
and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ.
So are you ready?
To say goodbye to defeat and start living a victorious life with God? Are you ready????? To discover how to face the mountainous challenges that we are facing today? Are you ready???? To know the weapons that God prepares for us and claim the victory? Are you ready??? To watch your mountains sink under the waves and be SET FREE? Are you ready???
Then turn with me to Deuteronomy 1:6…
One of the greatest things we need to change is our old Mindsets and bad behaviors... we tend to always resist anything that is either unfamiliar or uncomfortable
Listen, God is shifting us—He’s shifting us as a church, He’s shifting us in the way we think—and if we don’t allow God to shift us, we’ll find ourselves living in cycles of redundancy that bare no fruit.  Always going round and round!
Q:  Yet, aren't we supposed to bear fruit?  [John 15:8]
Ya there... Deut 1:6
Deuteronomy 1:6 HCSB
“The Lord our God spoke to us at Horeb: ‘You have stayed at this mountain long enough.
The Lord spoke this scripture to me a little while ago and has kept bringing it up a lot lately.  Ya see it is God’s will for us, His kids, to live in His Freedom, Liberty, and Victory!!  He's called us to move on from "this mountain that you've made out of a molehill" and cast it into the sea!!  You're an overcomer!!!
Q:  But, what prevents us from living the life that God has for us? ... Sin
Let me give you some historical context first...  Here in the beginning of Deuteronomy Moses was addressing the entire assembly of Israel in Moab, just east of the Jordan River.  They had been on their hike from when they first left Egypt.
Ya, see the Lord had commanded Israel to leave Sinai and to press on toward the promised land or to “Press on through to the other side”.  But, the way had become very hard for them, and they for Moses!  They took him almost to the brink… to the limits of himself. But eventually, they arrived at Kadesh Barnea on the borders of the promised land. There the people rebelled, again, refusing to enter the land… So, the Lord had no other choice but have wandered in the desert until that generation had died off.
Let me ask you a question:  How many times have you been standing at the edge of your breakthrough and rebelled against God?  How many times have we given up right when the answer to your problems was right there and ya coped a bad attitude?  Or chose to do what feels good instead of doing what was right, in the Lords' eyes?
Q: Aren’t you tired of living a broke busted and discussed life?
The Lord is saying today:  YOU HAVE STAYED AT THIS MOUNTAIN LONG ENOUGH!  X2
So many times we find ourselves buried up to our chins in the filth that we have gotten ourselves in… yet we yell at God saying this like “Why didn’t you help? Why didn’t you answer my prayer… it’s all your fault, God.
But, in all reality, God was trying to help… but we weren’t listening.  We were too blinded and defeated by our self-righteous pride and deception to hear Him or follow His lead.
Listen:  IT’S TIME TO OVERCOME!!!  It’s time to leave that mountain behind and move on to the promised land!
(Turn to somebody and tell them, “It’s time to leave the comfort zone!”)
But, First things first… We have to Identify what the problems are - we have to humble ourselves and come before God and ask Him to search us… Let me show you.
Turn to Psalm 139:23
Psalm 139:23 HCSB
Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my concerns.
Ya, see there are 6 Requests that David had here...
He said:
Search me - Give me a checkup from the heart up -God!Know my heartTry me know my thoughts see if there be any wicked way in me lead me in the way everlasting
Ya see David submitted his thoughts,  motives, and concerns to the Lord's scrutiny.  He asked God to reveal any offensive way in him.  I might add... so should we!
The next thing we need to do is... Repent & Forgive
1 John 1:9 HCSB
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Listen, confessing our sins does not mean a shallow reciting of misdeeds. This means owning up to wrongdoing and bringing our lives into line with God's goodness and commands.  God can & will forgive and cleanse us from any and all terrible sins.  But we have to make the choice and take the action to do so.
Ya see it's time to overcome - we must now recognize where we are and what we are doing and then repent for that sinful activity and behavior.
Let me say this... Jesus is coming - we don't know when - so we must always be ready!!  [Pan therory]
So, if we confess our sins, God will do 4 things
Be faithful to us be just with us forgive us our sins cleanse from all unrighteousness
This is all so wonderful news, isn't it?  But, it doesn't stop there!!!
Next, we must forgive - ya see we're talking about overcoming today right?  Forgiving others who have wronged us and forgiving ourselves is part of the process.  AMEN?
You can't expect God to forgive you when you won't forgive others or yourself!
Turn to Matt 6:14-15
Matthew 6:14–15 HCSB
“For if you forgive people their wrongdoing, your heavenly Father will forgive you as well. But if you don’t forgive people, your Father will not forgive your wrongdoing.
Listen, not forgiving people or yourself show up in your bones... the Bible says in
Proverbs 14:30 HCSB
A tranquil heart is life to the body, but jealousy is rottenness to the bones.
As I wrap this up  -
God forgives those who are truly repentant and true repentance results in a willingness to forgive others.
How to overcome
We take every thought captive and force it into obedience to ChristWe repent from active willful sinWe command the mountains in our lives to be bound and thrown into the seaWe glorify God by our testimony - because the Blood of the Lamb has set us free!!
Let me show you one last scripture
Revelation 12:11 HCSB
They conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they did not love their lives in the face of death.
Will you allow the Lord to set you free today and make you an overcomer, today?
