Foundation Scripture: Judges 2:7-10
I.
We are living in a generation that does not know the Lord
A. We have failed to train their children in the ways of the Lord
B. Our children know about the Lord but do not know the Lord or His ways (Bible illiteracy is at an all time high since our nation began)
C. This generation is doing what is evil in the sight of the Lord
D. Fathers are the answer to this dilemma

Fatherhood in Crisis
A. “Father Knows Best” has been cancelled.
Few dads today are an example of
1. Moral integrity
2. Spiritual headship
3. Marital faithfulness
4. Family commitment
5. Financial responsibility
6. Loving fatherhood
7. Servant leadership
8. Personal self-control
B. Fatherhood Dilemmas
1. Delinquent fathers: Fathers who could but choose not to be involved in their child’s life
2. Disconnected fathers: Fathers who are at home but are emotionally disconnected from their children
3. Distracted fathers: Fathers who have allowed other priorities to squeeze out their relationship with their child
4. Damaging fathers: Fathers who have physically, sexually, or verbally abused their children or their children’s mother
5. Disillusioned fathers: Fathers who do not know how to be effective fathers and have essentially given up
6. Damaged fathers: Fathers who are unable to be effective fathers because of trauma or addictions in their life

Fatherhood Restored
A. God is the original Father (Ephesians 3:14-15)
B. God is our example of true Fatherhood
C. God wants to restore the relationship between fathers and their children
1. Malachi 4:5-6 (NKJV) /“//Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord.
//6 //And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, lest I come and strike the earth with a curse.”/

1: Accept your spiritual headship in the home

2: Strengthen your marriage.

It is hard to be a good father without first being a good husband.
2. Love your kids by loving their mother.

3: Spend quality time with your children
1. Eat meals together at the table in the home
2. Make sure you spend alone time with your family

4: Love them unconditionally

5: Pray with them and for them daily

6: Protect them by learning to say no when necessary

7: Correct them when they go astray

8: Provide for them the resources they need to be successful

9: Prepare them for their life purpose

Our job is over when we have raised them and handed them off to God as their Father.
