Listen, plain and simple like… God’s Authority Comes From Our Connection to Jesus---
Jesus said in
Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me.

Intro: Last week we started a two-week series on the Authority of the Believer and we left off with the fact that we MUST always be connected to the vine and that vine is Jesus! So, today, that’s where we’re going to pick up at.
1. God’s Authority Comes From Our Connection to Jesus---
a. Jesus said in 4 Remain in Me, and I in you. Just as a branch is unable to produce fruit by itself unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in Me. 5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. The one who remains in Me and I in him produces much fruit, because you can do nothing without Me. (HCSB)
John 15:

What Jesus is saying here is… Stay connected to me; because without me you can do nothing—if you are disconnected, you can’t and will not be able to operate in God’s power and you will not “bear much fruit”.
You see we must produce spiritual fruit… if we don’t kicks in… (HCSB) “Even now the ax is ready to strike the root of the trees! Therefore, every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire. “
Basically, what God is saying here is… don’t be all religious, don’t just play church, don’t play games… stay connected to My Son (Jesus) and allow Me to produce good fruit in and through you!

Ok… here we go…
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

When we stay connected to Jesus, we receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on us and empowers us to accomplish the will of the Father in us and through us.
Ill. Power saw story…
Then Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Jesus said all power has been given to me—no power has been given to us until it has been delegated to us by Jesus our Lord, right? We must put ourselves in the right position by 1st accepting Jesus as our Lord, repenting of our sins and seeking God as our one and only hope. Then we will receive His power!
In order to live a victorious life and fulfill God’s call on our lives to go into the highways and byways… We must understand and accept God’s authority,
Ill) rose bowl parade-float stops, out of gas, they had to get a can of gas to get it started to start the parade back. The funny thing, it was the standard oil companies float.
That float represented a powerful gas company, but ran out of gas.
Like I said last week… Authority Isn’t For Self Gratitude. God won’t back you up if you’re in the flesh. What I mean here is… if you’re doing spiritual things for self-gratification, to make yourself look supper spiritual. You’ll get your butt kicked every time until you learn to walk in the spirit and in truth.
And do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]
Now we have this treasure in clay jars, so that this extraordinary power may be from God and not from us.

You see God doesn’t delegate authority to bring us glory, but that we might be used to bring him glory. Ya see, it God’s now ours; it’s for God’s glory not ours. Give God ALL THE GLORY!
Ill) You probably heard of a guy by the name of Herod—In Herod gave a powerful speech, people were shouting, the voice of a God and not man, and because he didn’t give God the glory, the Lord struck him, and he was eaten with worms and died.
Anything we do, it must be for God’s glory. God doesn’t want entertainers, people with fancy eloquent speech (look at me), professionals, he wants vessels to pour through, to give Him glory.
Authority Comes From the Spiritual Side
For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way,
since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. We demolish arguments
and every high-minded thing that is raised up against the knowledge of God, taking every thought captive to obey Christ.
. Authority Comes From the Spiritual Side— 3 For though we live in the body, we do not wage war in an unspiritual way, 4 since the weapons of our warfare are not worldly, but are powerful through God for the demolition of strongholds. This is a warning to all of us, we cannot do anything of ourselves, only through God, to the pulling down of strongholds.
Ill) Have you ever heard of the Seven Sons of Sceva they say the power the Apostle Paul and the authority that he walked in…
Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this.
The evil spirit answered them, “I know Jesus, and I recognize Paul—but who are you?”
Then the man who had the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them all, and prevailed against them, so that they ran out of that house naked and wounded.
(Found in 14 Seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, were doing this. 15 The evil spirit answered them, “I know Jesus, and I recognize Paul—but who are you?” 16 Then the man who had the evil spirit leaped on them, overpowered them all, and prevailed against them, so that they ran out of that house naked and wounded. —they tried to duplicate the power seen in Paul the Apostle, but the spirit leaped on them, torn their clothes, and then ran out from the place naked and embarrassed. Because they were in the Flesh.
4. God has given us Ultimate Authority in Christ Jesus name: over the World—, —talk about the greatest things about this authority of the believer; it works anywhere, anytime, in any situation. Jesus overcame this world, and we are made over comers because of Jesus!
Q: How do we overcome?

They were all laughing at the very thought of it. But he said, not only do I believe that, but I believe he can turn whiskey into things. He turned whiskey into food on my families table that they never had, he put clothes on my kids they never had, he turned whiskey into peace and love that my family never knew.

Listen! Authority, if you don’t use it, you will lose it.
A man bought his parents a 7 day cruise—day after day while everyone was eating the buffets, they went to their room and ate crackers and snacks. Finally a steward asked them why they didn’t come to meals, they said they didn’t have enough money for all the meals. Then they found out, everything was provided by their Son. Food came as part of the trip. Today, it has all been provide by the Son, we must accept our Spiritual Authority.
Walk in the power of God so that you will have the victorious life that God has for you and more importantly so that you can apply His love, power and authority in the lives of others. You see the world is dying and need a savior and Jesus is that savior.
