Making Disciples

Pastor Keith Hassell

 

 

Foundation Scripture:   Matthew 28:18-20

 

I.       Our Mission Statement:  “Our mission is to win souls and make disciples”

II.      Making Disciples

A.      Calling:  Making disciples involves recognizing and answering the call of the Great Commission

B.      Connection:  Making disciples involves a personal connection to a person and a process of discipleship

                   1.       Leadership Track (Discipleship track)

                             a.       Leadership Base Path (Knowledge)

b.       Mentoring by a cell leader (attitude, character, experience) (G-10)

C.      Consecration:  Making disciples involves a change in lifestyle.  Consecrate is to set something aside as different and special.

D.      Commitment:  Making disciples involves commitment to God and to others.

E.      Cross:         Making disciples involves dying to our fleshly will to do the will of the Father (We have to pay the price)

          1.       Distractions (Things that steal our focus)

2.       Detours (our plans that lead us cause us to lose time and progress)

          3.       Division:  Strife that destroys unity and effectiveness

F.      Conversion:   Making disciples involves winning other people to Jesus Christ

G.      Conforming:  Making disciples involves demonstrating Jesus and helping others to become like Jesus

                   1.       Matthew 10:25  A disciple will be like his teacher

2.       Romans 8:29  We are to be conformed to the image of His Son

H.      Cells:    Making disciples involves opening our lives in order to pastor and disciple new believers unto maturity (family)

          1.       Acts 2:46  The met house to house

          2.       Acts 20:20  Paul taught publicly and from house to house
