Possessing the Vision

Pastor Keith Hassell

 

 

Foundation Scripture:   Deuteronomy 1:21; Numbers 13:1-14:10

I.       Possessing the land

          A.      Vision (Look!)

          B.      Obedience (Go up and possess!)

          C.      Faith (Do not fear!)

          D.      Persistence (Do not be discouraged!)

 

II.      The Importance of Vision

          A.      You will become what you see and believe.

B.      You are not making your visions and dreams; your visions and dreams are making you!

          C.      God said, “I have set the land before you!”

                   a.       The land is before us!

D.      God told the people to take inventory of the land (for strategy sake)

a.       Israel saw a strong people, fortresses, and giants

b.       The land has people who are strong in sin; walls of tradition, denominationalism, prejudice; and its giants of money, politics, and religion

c.       We have a strategy called the “Ladder of Success”

E.      The people said, “The land is a good land!  But….”

F.      What do you see about the vision?

a.       Concerning our ability to do it?

          1)       We are not able!

          2)       We are well able!

b.       Concerning the enemy?

          1)       They are stronger than we!

2)       Their protection has departed from them!

c.       Concerning the city?

          1)       We are not able to possess it!

2)       Let us go up at once and take possession!

d.       Concerning the giants?

1)       We are as grasshoppers in our sight and in their sight!

2)       The Lord is with us!  He is bigger than them all!

                   e.       Concerning the region?

1)       The land devours its inhabitants!

2)       The land flows with milk and honey!

f.       Concerning the harvest of people?

                             1)       We are afraid of them!

2)       God has given them for our bread!

a)       “Pro-Vision” is supply for the vision. The harvest is God’s provision for the vision.

g.       Concerning your destiny?

1)       Let’s choose new leaders who will take us back to Egypt! (Backsliding)

2)       There is only one option with a future---to go up and possess the land!

h.       Concerning God’s command?

1)       Let us go back!  The risks are too great!

2)       Let us go up!  The Lord is with us!

 

III.    The power of leadership with vision

A.      God is looking for a leadership who can believe God to possess the land

B.      Vision flows down from the head of leadership to the people

C.      Never underestimate the power of vision or the lack of it
