Heaven on earth than we will be greatly disappointed
b/c the Promise isn’t for where we are right now but for where we are going
we will experience trouble in this life but we hold to the Promise that Jesus is coming back for us to help us push thru troubled times
Heaven on earth
Heaven on earth
As they get ready to enter into the Promised Land and Joshua prepares Israelites
And Joshua commanded the officers of the people, “Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’ ”
Making preparations for the Promise Land
getting themselves ready
Packing for a trip

w/ Kids
I’ve learned that we usually need a uhaul

camping
Canada in February
How can we prepare for a place where we are going but can’t take anything physical with us?
Jesus told us
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
If you lives are living in preparation for heaven then we will stop worrying about earthly treasures and begin worrying about heavenly treasures
He speaks with such wisdom and authority when He says for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also!
Jesus goes on to say...
“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
What are you looking towards?
Where is your hope? Long for? Light at the end of the tunnel?
You cannot serve two masters… which one will you chose?
Our prayer should follow the example of Jesus’ prayer
Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
and then our lives should reflect.
wouldn’t this be preparation for when we cross over
seeking His will on earth
that we could be a part of His plan
No we are not in heaven yet but what if we could give the world a foretaste of the Promise
Some have sin in their lives that they know that you need to turn from or that you need to turn to Jesus for Salvation and Jesus’ message is this
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
prepare your hearts for Heaven by turning your hearts to Him and away from self and sin
often times we don’t feel that we have the strength to carry out what God desires for us but if we ask our Father who gives generously to those who seek Him then we will find that this is true the He will
equip you with everything good that you may do his will, working in us that which is pleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Matt 6:19
“The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness!
“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
We don’t have the power to overcome sin but by calling on the Name of the Lord He can give us what we need to be overcomers
to prepare ourselves for the Promise
But God has shown me in His Word and through life experience that often times it is not because we can’t find the strength in Him but because we are not looking to change
Some feel that they can live on both sides of the fence
sin and Savior
Promise of eternal life and lustful pleasures of this life
looking for the best of both worlds
even though God’s expectations are clear for us to be making preparations to be as we will be in heaven we have no desire to begin that journey
don’t read His Word
love dirty jokes & even worse movies
gossip & tear others down
look with lust
AND no sign of repentance
all the while come to church when it’s convenient or when troubles come in hope of God fixing your problems and giving you a home in heaven
he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.
Life of compromise
not seeking Holy Spirit in your life
I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked.
So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.
It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.
This double life doesn’t work in the eyes of God
so we must choose our Master
Others have chosen to follow Christ but we are looking for the easy way out
do what is required but nothing more
The problem with that is that we will never seek to make the preparations for the journey into heaven
No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is beneficial.
Just because we can doesn’t mean that we should
Whatever you eat or drink do it for the glory of the Lord
I think of Donna I don’t believe that smoking a cigarette is a sin but she felt in her life that it was keeping her from the health that God called her to and so she quit
it wasn’t beneficial so she had to remove it from her life
many smoke and maybe God hasn’t called you to that but if He does are you willing to listen?
The clothes that you where young ladies… is it beneficial to your walk with the Lord?
gentleman the girl that your chasing… is it beneficial to your walk with the Lord? or just for your eyes?
mature Christians the time that you spend enjoying extra things is certainly permissible but is it beneficial in the quantity that you enjoy it or could some of that time be focused more on younger believers?
When we begin to look through a lens that is looking to bring to make preparations for eternity then we will find that we may need to change what we eat or drink or put into our body, the music and tv that we allow into our lives, the people that we spend time with, and those that we don’t anymore, the clothes that we wear , places that we go, what, who, and how we look at people and things, what we are wroking for and towards, how we spend our time (yes even our free time)
while it may be permissible we are called to do more than just slide through the gates of heaven but to make preparations while we are here and bring as many other with us as we enter in
“Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’ ”
