“Thy Kingdom Come”
Matthew 6:10 KJV “Thy kingdom come…”
I. Four things that constitute a kingdom
A. King or Supreme Ruler
B. Territory
C. Subjects or citizens
D. Law and a form of government
II. Two spiritual kingdoms
A. No. 1: Kingdom of God
1. John 18:33-37 (NKJV) “Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, ‘Are You the King of the Jews?’ 34 Jesus answered him, ‘Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?’ 35 Pilate answered, ‘Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?’ 36 Jesus answered, ‘My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.’ 37 Pilate therefore said to Him, ‘Are You a king then?’ Jesus answered, ‘You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.’”
B. No. 2: Kingdom of Satan
1. Matthew 12:25-28 (NKJV) “But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: ‘Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. 26 If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand? 27 And if I cast out demons by Beelzebub, by whom do your sons cast them out? Therefore they shall be your judges. 28 But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God,surely the kingdom of God has come upon you.’”
2. Ephesians 6:10-12 (NKJV) “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”
