None of the Rulers Understood the Wisdom of God

None of them understood the Gospel

It is impossible for a non-believer to understand the Gospel or to understand the things of God

blinded by the things of this World

b. blinded by the enemy

bThe God of this World has blinded them

Hater of God

view the things of God as foolishness & Moronic… He views the Gospel as foolish and Moronic

We speak wisdom among those who are mature

That’s why Paul in verse 6 say’s, “we do speak wisdom among those who are mature”

Only people who can understand the Gospel (which is the wisdom of God), are those who are mature (those who are true believers)

True believers are the only one’s that can understand the Gospel & understand the things of God.

Why

Because true, believers are the only ones who have been born again

Because true, believers are the only ones who have been born again

They are the only one’s that have been born from above

the’re the only one’s who have been born of heaven

And true believers are the only one’s who have the Holy Spirit dwelling within them.

And you have to have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you, before you can understand the wisdom of God or before you can understand the Gospel.

It’s impossible to understand the things of God apart from the Holy Spirit.

Because If the Holy Spirit’s not dwelling inside of you, its impossible to understand the things of God, or to understand the Gospel, or God’s wisdom.

Without the Holy Spirit abiding in you, teaching you the things of God and revealing the scripture to you, the Gospel is nothing but a mystery

b. That’s why Paul say’s in verses 6-7, “we do speak wisdom among those who are mature; a wisdom, however, not of this age nor of the rulers of this age, who are passing away, but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery”.

God’s wisdom (which is the Gospel) is a mystery to the world, the World cant understand it or comprehend it

2. its impossible for the world to understand the wisdom of God or the things of God, and that’s exacly the way God wants it. God will not allow the world to understand His wisdom, he will not allow carnal, wicked people to obtain his wisdom.

Why?

WHY?

3. Because God designed it that way, he made it so that no one can understand the things of God through human efforts.

3. Those that are of the World, those who have rejected Christ hear his message as foolishness

4. You cannot obtain the wisdom of God through human efforts

WHY?

5. That’s why in verses 7-8 Paul write’s

“but we speak God’s wisdom in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God predestined before the ages to our Glory; the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age has understood; for if they understood it they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory”.

God kept his wisdom. his plain of salvation through Christ hidden from the Jewish leaders, because if they would have known the truth about Christ, they wouldn't have crucified him.

God chose not reveal himself to the Jewish leaders and rulers so that His will would be accomplished.

God’s free will

One thing you have to understand about God is that He has a free will.

He can choose to harden or save whoever He wants, God is sovereign over all things including Salvation.

It is God’s choice when it comes to who He reveals himself to, he can reveal himself to anyone he wants, or he can choose not to reveal himself

God chose not to reveal himself to the Jewish leaders, he chose to hide his Wisdom from them & because of that, God’s wisdom was a mystery to them.

God’s wisdom (His Gospel), is a mystery to all those he chooses not reveal Himself to, because in order to understand the things of God , God has to reveal it, you cannot understand God on your own, you cannot understand the wisdom of God by your own human efforts

That’s why in verse 9 Paul say’s

“Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard, And which have not entered the heart of man, All that God has prepared for those who love him. For to us God revealed himself through the Spirit; For the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God”.

In other words, no one has ever discovered the wisdom of God using human faculties, or human efforts, no one is able to do that.

You can’t look up and find God’s wisdom with your natural eyes or hear it with your natural ears or anything like that. Because God has revealed his wisdom to us by His Spirit, not through carnal things, but through the Spirit, verse 11 say’s

verse 11

“For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the Spirit of man which is in him, even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God”

Its only through the Spirit of God that you can obtain the wisdom of God.

The wisdom of God cant be understood or obtained from the World.

Look at verse 12

Verse 12

“We have recieved not the Spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God”

Here Paul’s basically saying look, you did not receive the wisdom of God through the Spirit of this age rather you received the wisdom of God through the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God revealed the wisdom of God to you.

We are helpless in trying to discover God and His wisdom through physical means’s, we cannot tap into God’s wisdom with our heart’s, we cannot obtain his wisdom through physical means or human abilities.

There is nothing in the natural we can do to obtain God’s wisdom, and luckily as children of God we don't have to work ourselves to death trying to obtain God’s wisdom because his wisdom is not hidden from His children.

And the Spirit reveals God to us through His Word,

God’s truth, God’s plan, Gods wisdom, is not hidden from His children .

Because If the Holy Spirit’s not dwelling inside of you, its impossible to understand the things of God, or to understand the Gospel, or God’s wisdom.
