The Trinity: One of the most important foundational understanding to who God is, is that He is relational.

Most important foundational understanding to who God is, is that He is relational.
The Gospel means this… reconciled relationship, sacrificial son, sins atoned for, wrath of God satisfied. BIG WORDS. BIG DEAL.
In order to understand why God is so passionate about this, is to understand that He is relational. Being a christian and knowing God is about understanding that He is relational.
Why is God relational? &
God is Trinitarian. What’s that mean?

***God eternally exists as three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and each person is fully God, and there is one God.***
Scriptures revealing the “plural presence of God,” from the beginning of Scripture. This shows us this is something that’s been around from the beginning and we’re not making this up.
Genesis 1:26 ESV
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

3 Statements summarizing the Biblical Teaching

God is three persons. Each person is fully God. There is one God.

First Biblical statement - (God is 3 persons)
Each person of the Trinity is distinct. Each person represented is not the other person of the Trinity. 3 persons represented distinctly in scripture.
(the word “with” shows distinction) (clear distinction)
Other personal activities ascribed to the Holy Spirit - teaching, bearing witness, interceding or praying on half of others, searching the depths of God, knowing the thoughts of God, willing to distribute some gifts to some and other gifts to others, forbidding or not allowing certain activities, speaking, evaluating and approving a wise course of action, and being grieved by sin in the lives of Christians.
2. Second Biblical statement - (Each person is fully God)
(Jesus) emphasis upon Thomas referencing Jesus as “my God,” and then how John goes onto right later emphasizing belief in Jesus after this statement. It’s as though he’s reinforcing the statement which is his agenda, via the Holy Spirit, writing this book. (Jesus - exact imprint) (Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God)
3. Third Biblical statement - (There is one God)
This is a very important and true statement that rings clear from the Word.
Teaching/Dialogue Time:
Read the text.
Main Truths to Discuss:
God can be known.
Jesus put in work.
Being one is mandatory and the fruit of Jesus’ work.
Ephesians 2:14
Ephesians 2:14–16 ESV
14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility.
Go out into your school week knowing that God wants the relationship with you and with your friends. In , Jesus did work so that we could be a part of what he, the Holy Spirit, and God the Father have and it’s eternally perfect. Let’s get in on that.
