Hanani, one of my brethrenm came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.

Point #2 Nehemiah’s Cry vs. 4

Nehemiah wept, mourned, fasted, and prayed as a result of his burden for his people and his homeland.
He was a Eunuch in a pagan place but he senses the presence of GOD
According to ch. 1:1 & ch. 2:1 Nehemiah fasted and prayed for four months as a result of his God given burden. Chisleu - Nisan
Whatever is burdening your heart, you will not get rest until you cry out, mourn, weep, fast, pray.

The physical condition of Nehemias homeland reflected the spiritual condition of the people (). The walls were burned down, the temple was destroyed and ravaged, the Jews who returned to the land were open prey for their enemies.
Gods Presence was not there (l Samuel 4:19-21)
